Out My Door : Barrow has such unusual weather, 24hr daylight in summer, 24hr night in winter. Temperatures range from -56F to 78F, the daily low temperature is below freezing 324 days of the year. Just for fun I'm going to take a picture from the door of my apartment every day around noon (Alaska time) for one year and post it here so everyone can see the changes.

SKAGWAY, AK : Our ship (Regent of the Seven Seas "Mariner") docked in Skagway today. We took a ferry through the longest and deepest fjord in North America, with its towering mountains, hanging glaciers and lush forests. After we reached Haines, we drove into the Valley of the Eagles and rafted through the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. We passed the riverside village of Klukwan, the center of Tlingit culture for centuries. The natives fish for a living and smoke the salmon in smokehouses along the river. Unfortunatley, it was another dreary day and very few eagles were to be seen. At least it didn't rain on my camera today! :D
