Day 2 - Glacier Bay : We arrived in Glacier Bay around 7am and were greeted with calm waters (that turned green once we got closer to glaciers), gorgeous scenery and lots of whales and porpoises! We cruised to inlet to see the Lamplugh Glacier, the Margerie Glacier and the big one... the Carroll Glacier. The sun came out allowing us to view the icy blue color of the glacier in all it's glory. It was a beautiful sight to see. Check out #86... it's a video of one of the glaciers.

Day 3 - Juneau : We arrived in Juneau with two other cruise ships, which made this port very crowded and touristy. However, I did enjoy the tram ride to the top of Mt. Roberts, which offered up some breath-taking views of the port. We also met up with Christian's cousin & his wife for some coffee, bought me some better walking shoes and ate some of the best shrimp cakes and clam chowder ever!

Day 4 - Sitka : Sitka was my favorite port. We did a wildlife viewing excursion (courtesy of my folks) and saw lots of sea otters, bald eagles, some humback whales and even a gray whale. Gray whales are very rare in these parts this time of the year, so we were very lucky to happen upon one while he was feeding. We also visited a bear orphanage where they had two 2-yr old bears that had been raised since they were cubs. This was the closest I got to seeing a "wild" bear and that's ok. It was great to see them playing in a large, semi-natural habitat.

Day 5 - Ketchikan : I met an interesting man named Tony Logger and his dog K.D. (stands for Klondike Dog.) She's a 14yr old husky/wolf mix. He's a retired logger who loves living in an area where the only law is his Smith & Wesson. He was a lot of fun to talk to. LOTS of salmon were running in this area. The rivers were full! It was a cute town.
