Decay - it's universal : Change is an inevitable process in all things natural or man made. Birth, growth, rebirth are celebrated, but they can't occur with out their opposites ... decline, decay, death. There is beauty to be found in these supposedly negative changes. Pictures in this gallery try to capture that aspect. It's an open-ended collection; I'll be adding to it continually. Please keep checking back if you like what you see.

Argo Pond, Dam, Cascades, etc. : The Huron River in SE lower Michigan has a number of dams along its 130 mile length. Two in particular are associated with parks and boating liveries in Ann Arbor. The upstream one is Argo Dam. It's the largest dam on the river, with six floodgates. A railroad trestle spans the river immediately upstream from the dam. The pond behind the dam bears the obvious name, Argo Pond. The boat livery at the Pond, just a few hundred feet upstream from the dam, provides shuttle service for returning rented boats and the paddlers back to Argo Pond from the other, downstream, boat livery at Gallup Park. There is now a by-pass for paddlers, the Argo Cascades, which obviates the tedious portage around the dam. Bandemer Park lies on the opposite side of the river from Argo Park (with its boat livery), and a pedestrian and bicycle walkway tops the dam, thus effectively connecting the two parks.
