Grand Canyon National Park North Rim : The plan was for Britza and I to spend 4 days & 3 Nights on the North Rim of Grand Canyon with Joseph & Vannessa. Unfortunately both Vannessa & Joseph came down with the flu. Vannessa spent 2 days and 1 night at the hospital in Page and Joseph was confined to his hotel bed for another day. Then ended up meeting us on Friday afternoon at the North Rim for our final night of Camping.

Yellowstone National Park & Surrounding Area : I spent the summer of 1997 in a field course studying the reintroduced wolves of Yellowstone National Park. These are some of the photos from that journey (the people shots are in the Family & Friends/Travels gallery space). We spent most of our time in the back country but did get in one crazy day of driving to some of the touristy places. Again, I apologize for any artifacts from my scanning. Please be patient as I am scanning half a dozen rolls!

Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park : This is the second island we visited on our honeymoon. Volcanoes National Park is exceptional! It goes from lush vegetation to desert to fields of lava. Incredible! Unfortunately no flowing lava was visible during our trip.

Grand Canyon National Park (1996, 2005 & 2007) : The first 4 photos were taken on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon in 1996 & 2005.
Popular day hike on the North Kaibab Trail (distances and times are for the R/T) Coconino Overlook: 1.4 mi (1h) Supai Tunnel: 3.6 mi (2h30) Redwall Bridge: 5.4 mi (4h) Needle's Eye: 7 mi (5h) Roaring Springs: 10 mi (8h)

In November 2007, we rode our bikes along Hermit Road which follows the rim for 8 miles/13 km west from Grand Canyon Village to Hermits Rest.
That road is closed to private cars so the traffic (free shuttle) is very light.
Amazing views & beautiful sunset!

Canyonlands N.P (Needles District), Spring 2003 & 2005, Fall 2007 : The Needles District forms the southeast comer of Canyonlands, and it is the most popular backpacking destination in the park.
The dominant formations are the needles which are massive colorful sandstone spires.
It is one of my favorite park in Utah (not crowded and very beautiful)

Our favorite hike is the Frying Pan trail. First, you have a steep climb to Cassidy Arch and then you have great views for the rest of the hike.
