2014 D Fall - As Red As It Gets : Each season is unique in the way it progresses. Much like last year, there was an early show of color, but then a long hiatus. The first widespread appearance of color in the usual 'first responders', sumac, dogwood, Virginia creeper, and sugar maple, came after the middle of September. Time will tell how the rest of the season shapes up. One huge difference from last year is the nearly complete absence of crab apples. Last year was the heaviest crop of them I can ever remember. I hope the birdies don't suffer because of this.
