Birds - Most Popular All-Time
Took the D300 for the first few images to the Jurong BirdPark in Singapore. Jurong BirdPark is the largest in the Asia Pacific and the best in the world. Spread over 20 hectare it has a collection of more than 9,000 birds from 600 species The Park has four aviaries including the world’s largest walk-in aviary.
Thanks for all the effort and comments on yesterday's bird. I'm afraid the verdict is still out. Too many things point away from the brown-headed cowbird. Today's bird is a rather easy one. I was wandering around the grounds of the Tamarac National Wildlife Headquarters, dressed in my ninja suit...giant white lens and all! ;-) Snuck up on this nesting pair of tree swallows. Surprising, I got really close for some decent shots! There are three other shots in gallery of this pair. Another of the male, and then two of the female! Have a blessed day!
Atlantic Puffin Fratercula artica July, Machias Seal Island, Maine Canon EOS 7D | Canon EF100-400 IS USM
Belted Kingfisher
"The Cycle of Life" - Bald Eagle with Pintail: Ridgefield NWR, WA (Dec. 2008)
Roadside Hawk. Picture was taken through the window of the van that was taking us to Cano Negro, - Feb 2009, Cano Negro, Costa Rica
Velvet-purple Coronet
Pileated Woodpecker (female) / Grand pic (femelle) Dryocopus pileatus Britannia Conservation Area, Ottawa, Ontario 29 March 2008 I had never seen a woodpecker preen itself before.  I guess that beak is good for more than just boring through tree trunks.
So who's the new guy?
Sentinel While one mate is off gathering sticks or fishing ... the other guards the nest from other osprey (claim jumpers are a problem during nest building).
