Cuba Trip 2009 : In August 2009 I took a trip to Havana Cuba to help build a new building for a church. Havana and its rich history is a city trapped somewhere between the architectural and social beauty of 1959, and 50 years of slow deterioration into utter disrepair and poverty. However, the human spirit in Cuba remains and is thriving.

What did I learn you ask? I learned how to make concrete on the ground. I learned how to be inventive and creative with building materials. I learned about Montecristo Cuban cigars, what a Mojito tastes like and how a good Ricky Ricardo band can make me lose myself for hours. But more than anything else, I learned that compared to these wonderful Cuban people, I may be financially wealthy beyond their imagination, but I am spiritually bankrupt beyond my own belief.

The following pictures were taken with a Nikon D50 and a Tamron 18-200 lens with a slight blue skylight. And just for the record, I'm a complete amature hack when it comes to photography.

I hope you enjoy Cuba.

St. Sauveur Cuban Festival 2009 : This was difficult to shoot due to the very poor lighting setup. I did end up with some surreal images, some of which, I have decided to show. Comments are welcomed.

One of the performances was by the Tropicana review from Havana which make up the bulk of the images here. Nevertheless, the day was a lot of fun.

Cuba : I'm just strating to go and look through all the years of images I have taken in Cuba. Since 1997 I have spent close to 2 years, in total, in Cuba but I tend to shoot people, including portraits and never really took pictures of any "scenery". I am reluctant to post images of people I kinow but a few will make it. I will be in Cuba for 2 weeks this November and I do have plans to spend a couple of days of just shooting "Cuba". Come back for more soon. This Gallery will probably end up with a > 100 images..
