Mount Tamalpais - 1/8/2006 : Taken in Tamalpais State Park in Marin County, California.

This expedition was an experiment in HDR and bracketing with DSLR Remote Pro.
I was pretty frustrated with results from Photomatix from my last HDR expedition using the canon firmware exposure bracketing settings, which allow 3 pictures at once. I found a program called DSLR Remote Pro that will let a computer that the 20D is connected to take pictures through the computer.

The super handy thing, in addition to being able to see your shots instantly and not have to shake the camera with the shutter release, is that it will auto exposure bracket as many pictures as it needs to capture the full light range of the scene, usually around 5 pictures at 1 stop intervals.

The downside is that in addition to the camera, all the lenses, and the tripod, now I have to lug around a heavy laptop, and find a place to set it up and keep it from falling/getting dirty while I'm working. Fortunately, I have a trusty assistant. I'm pretty happy with the results, although processing an HDR picture takes nearly 3x as long as a single exposure.

Point Bonita - 9/02/2005 : Taken in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area in Marin County, California.

Point Bonita is a lighthouse at the north entrance to the back on the very tip of the Marin peninsula. There are great views of the city from here, provided there isn't a lot of fog at the time. It's also cold and windy, which I never would have guessed otherwise.

Golden Gate Vista Point - 11/25/2005 : Taken in Marin county, California

After a brief visit to the city, Jody and I stopped off at Vista Point to check things out. The traffic was atrocious, pretty common for a Sunday afternoon with weather as nice as this. This spot offers some really great angles of the bridge, as well the city.
