Alta Men's 2012 : If you're interested in an image or two there is a "Buy" button to the upper right of each photo. Click it to find myriad "product" options: mugs, t-shirts, magnets, prints, etc.
The prints are done by BayPhoto, one of SmugMug's recommended photo labs. These images would look great printed with BayPhoto's "metal" processing.
If you find one you like, but want additional post-processing, let me know. Most of these can be printed "HUGE", on canvas, paper, or my favorite, aluminum.
The aluminum prints are ready to hang, or prop-up on your desk, and require no additional framing. They're very cool.

I recently had this http://welladjustedcoyote.smugmug.com/Landscapes/Lunar-09/i-Bb9JbhP/1/L/IMG3989V2-2-L.jpg printed 12x18. I hung
it in my classroom, right by the ceiling above my whiteboard. My students can't keep their eyes off it. This particular print resembles an iMac display of the same picture. My brother ordered a similar print and had it done as a 20x30 canvas gallery wrap.

I will incorporate the most popular photos here into the end-of-season DVD.

Play hard guys. Put your whole body into your shots: it makes the ball "heavy" and looks cool too.

Which matches are in this 2012 gallery:
--------------------------------------------------
Alta vs Cottonwood ("CWooood") 3.22.12, shot w 5dmkii and 70-200/f4, Tv mostly, too much DOF. Bright midday sun.
Alta vs Lone Peak 3.23.12, shot w 5dmkii and 70-200/f4, Av this time, limiting the DOF. Overcast, uniform light.
Alta vs Brighton 3.27.12, shot w 5dmkii & 70-200/f4, Av intended, but the mode switch rotated to Tv for a while. Partly cloudy.
*** Corrected my confusion regarding Singles#2 (Connor) and Singles#3 (Johny). Sorry gents. ***
Alta vs Copper Hills 4.10.12, shot w 5dmkii & 70-200/f4, Av, manual focus, beautiful day. (#180-203)
Alta vs West Jordan 4.16.12, shot w 5dmkii & 70-200/f4, 1.4TC, Av, manual focus, overcast. (#204-278). I got there at 4:05 and it was mostly over already.
Alta vs Brighton, 4.19.12, shot w 5dmkii & 70-200/f4, 1.4TC, Av, auto focus through open gates, sunny, clear. (#279-355). Connor and Johnny had great matches. Check out the last image, and in particular the grin in Connor's eye vs Troy's wasted look..
---
Alta at the State finals, 5/12/12. Wyatt & Jordan defeating Bingham and Brighton, Connor playing Jacob Tullis (I think).
---
Mr.Anger, our accountant (personal friend of my father-in-law, WWII vet, 5:30am daily tennis player) sent Wyatt $25 with a note saying congratulations, and (killer fact) that the Tullis kids are his grand kids! A few years back Gail mentioned his grand kids, saying he could still win when playing the 7th grader, but that the boys were already playing the western (if not national) circuit.

REV vs Stealth Low Res : RIGHT-CLICK TO SAVE ANY IMAGE YOU WANT. I'LL BE TAKING THESE DOWN IN A MONTH OR SO. ACT SOON.. ENJOY.

Wasatch REVolution (visitors, in red) vs Utah Stealth (home, in black), cinco de mayo, at Granger High School

The score was 9-26 in favor of the Stealth.

If you are considering buying a print, and if the "Buy" button says the image in this gallery is too small to print, check if the high-res version is
in the "High Res" gallery. Go up one gallery, and into the sister gallery called "High Res".

If the image is there, you're good to go. If it is not yet there, post a comment on the image saying that you need a high-res version of it.

I shot the game with my 5dmkii and 300/2.8L, hand held, Av at f/2.8.

Moon Shots 5d2 : "Don't take pictures. Let pictures take you." V.Versace, 18-Sept-09, Pictureline's DigitalFest

I try.

In the "white horizon, indigo sky, crescent moon WITH the rest of the moon visible, Jupiter, etc" shots the moon and sky were incredible...
The "indigo sky, magenta/orange horizon, black ground, white moon" happened a few days after "white horizon, indigo sky, rising crescent" shots.

GPJr Student/Faulty BBall 9Feb12 : Yesterday’s spirited game shows, once again, that no casbah rocks like GPJR..

It also shows that stacking the adult team with giants is no match for the likes of a 7th grader named Francisco (or did Matt say Fernando?) or a kid from Missouri with an “M” tattooed on his left deltoid or even a 4’ girl from Burma who happens to be fast as lightning. Heck, Daniel, Martin, Anfernie, they were all amazing.

I shot about 500 pics yesterday, but found myself driving home w/o them. I freaked. I had kids all over last night until 5 and paid no attention to my favorite camera/lens combo. I worried that (for the 1st time in 7 years) perhaps someone (else) accidentally walked home with it. Mits picked up his cell on 39th south, turned and went back to school to look for it in my room. He found it and texted a picture of it hiding under my desk.. Thanks Mits.

Anyway, this morning I started chimping my way through the pics. They’re fine, probably 400 of them anyway (80% success rate, not bad for a balding Shriner). I’ll post them this weekend and send a link. They’ll be “unprotected” so just right-click copy the ones you want.

I chatted with Matt as we both shot the game. We were both trying, among other things, to get shots of gentle giant (with amazing brakes) Derrick juxtaposed against, well, short people. I’ve got a half dozen of him towering over Paw Eh Blut and others. I’ve got Wylder, feet locked down, with Charlie driving his left shoulder into him as he worked toward the net. Taran is in the mix too, with an incredulous look as he directs a team mate to get to another location. Charlie drove the ball down court a few times, only to flip it to a kid, providing an assist rather than going for personal glory. Jones was “rocking” his Chuck Taylor All Stars (wildly popular in China now, so, what, 1.34B people can’t be wrong). Mits reigned with his retro “do”.

Most players on the adult team have grins on their faces. Now and then the look is grim, but mostly grins. Officer Howard, in his regulation blues guarding the door, has a Cheshire grin too. Emily A, hands akimbo, chastises a group of hooligans for tossing crap on the court. The dance team glows with their crazy fluorescent leggings. I got a close-up of Dayra working her way up court with the ball. I think I’ve got everyone, at least 10 times.

Paw was nervous about going on the court yesterday: she said everyone is SO BIG! Her eyes bugged out a bit when she told me that. Paw is moving to Heber Wednesday and is nervous about that too. I told her, “When people see you play sports you’re going to be in like Flynn.” Watching Paw maneuver for a better spot on the court in yesterday’s game was like watching a long-tailed weasel search for food: cute, fast, determined. I saw the latter in action this summer for the 1st time. I’ll miss Paw next week.

But what a game! I thought this morning that, despite the “give me a number” mentality of the NCLB/AYP crowd, GPJr is an awesome place and that if we keep getting groused at for “our numbers” that we ought to secede and form a Charter School dedicated to educating 400 ESL students (including a boatload of refugees), and other native species, including the elusive long tailed weasel. This place is amazing.

Happy Friday,
Andy
