The Land of Avatar : If you saw the movie Avatar you will recognize these scenes. I had no idea that the Zhangjiajie National Park was the home of the famous mountain range that inspired the scenes for the Avatar movie. One of the locations for the festival was set up where these amazing views surrounded the stage and while the performances were going on we kept looking up expecting the blue Avatar people to come flying down on their dragons!

Music Festival : My husband is part of the California band, Big Rain and they were invited to perform at the 2011 Zhangjiajie Country Music Festival. This gallery shows some of the performances at the closing ceremony. The backdrops used to complement the various performances were amazing. The production techniques used by the Chinese were so creative and so beautiful!

Chinese Opera : We were fortunate to be invited to attend a Chinese Opera that was playing near our hotel. I took my camera and then discovered that they had no problem with the audience taking pictures! The beautiful backdrops that were projected throughout the performance were breathtaking and brought the performance to a whole other level and dimension.

Images of China : The first several pictures were taken on our journey from Hong Kong to Guangzhou. From Guangzhou we flew to the Hunan Province where we then traveled to Zhangjiajie; the location of the Zhangjiajie Music Festival. The festival set up 6 stages at various locations through out the Zhangjiajie National Park where the natural beauty included the lake at the top of one of their mountains (over one thousand steps to get there) and the famous Yellow Dragon Caves. When the festival was over John and I continued on to see the Terra Cotta Warriors and then on to the Great Wall.
