China ChongQing/Chengdu, 2010 - 重庆/成都,2010 : "Once a quiet port city of 200,000 people perched at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers, nestled in the mountains of central China, Chongqing today has transformed into a sprawling metropolis. The city center and surrounding districts and municipalities are home to nearly 33 million, roughly the population of all of Canada."
- GlobalPost September 22, 2010

I was born and grown up in Chongqing, China. The last time I was there: 1998. Finally, I visited the old and new city in November 2010. I spent 9 days there and arranged one evening for taking the photos.

Three or four years ago Tong Li was still a "secret tip" among the water towns around Shanghai. Now there is a large parking lot for the tourist busses and you have to make your way through a collection of souvenir shops in order to get to the town proper. Still, Tong Li is worth a visit. Here are pictures of three visits, one with Marcello, the second one together with Daggi, Marc and Paula and the last one with Joanna and Brian.
When Rabea and Alex came to visit, we took them to Tong Li, too. So, these are pictures of four visits now.
