Cities > popular all-time > Mickey's Diner at Night; Saint Paul, Minnesota

Ah, Mickey's... It's been St. Paul's favorite greasy spoon for many years. The dining car was built in 1937 by the Jerry O' Mahony Company in New Jersey. The car was shipped to St. Paul and opened for business on this same spot in 1939. It has been resisting the march of time and urban renewal efforts ever since. By the bye, it's not a real railroad car. But it is on the National Register of Historic Places. http://www.mickeysdiningcar.com/
Cities > popular all-time > U.S. Flags; Minneapolis, Minnesota

These flags are along West River Road near downtown Minneapolis. I was looking at another view and waiting for the sun to come back out. Something made me turn around and I found this.

Many thanks to old buddy Wayne for picking out the view for this one.
Cities > popular all-time > Cathedral of Saint Paul; Saint Paul, Minnesota

The Cathedral of Saint Paul is one of Saint Paul's greatest landmarks. It looks out over downtown with a monumental presence. The church was the child of Archbishop John Ireland and architect Emmanuel Manqueray. Construction took eight years and the building was dedicated in 1915. Interior work continued through the 1930's. A very expensive exterior restoration ran 2001 to 2003. It included tuckpointing the granite facades and sheathing the central dome in 100,000 square feet of copper.

Cities > popular all-time > Interior, Lake Harriet Band Shell; Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Lake Harriet Band Shell is pure fun inside and out. It was built in 1986. I'll be adding some exterior views once the landscape around here greens up.
Cities > popular all-time > Tenth Avenue Bridge from the East River Flats; Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Tenth Avenue Bridge was completed in 1929. The original bridge was three thousand feet long. A 1976 rebuild shortened the approaches. This view is looking through one of the bridge's seven arches. The new Interstate 36W Bridge is in the background.
Cities > popular all-time > Lambert's Landing; Saint Paul, Minnesota

Framing the towboat with the power line tower is a bit of a gimmick to my mind. But I do like the result. The towboat is the J.W. Hershey.
