Rocky Mountain National Park : I miss living so near RMNP that I could hike every morning and evening before and after work. I don't make enough trips to the Park now, and this year's journeys are marred by rust-colored forests as pine beetles inflict the first stage of a landscape transformation I wish didn't have to happen, even though one day quaking aspen and brilliant fireweed will fill in all the gaps dead lodgepoles eventually will leave behind.

First 4-Wheeling 2008 : Scott and Laurie are quite into 4-wheeling and were kind enough to take us along this Saturday! Laurie insisted they be gentle on us, since we made our way up to Kingston Peak. The road was evidently just a Level 3 (out of a possible 10).
