Mt. Rainier-Oct. '09 #3 : Kudos to my husband who called me yesterday early in the morning to suggest I head up to the mountains. I knew it was one of the few days when it wasn't going to snow or rain up there, so off I went. I have always said that Grand Teton NP is my favorite place on earth, and it is! Having said that, I have to say that Mt. Rainier is rivaling that statement with all of it's spectacular beauty! I headed up to Tipsoo Lake first, and found it covered in snow. If you remember my pics from last Saturday, it was still full of fall color, so winter happens quick up there! On the way down to Stevens Canyon, I spotted a beautiful fox, who stuck around long enough for me to capture some images of him. After that, I headed toward Paradise, only to find the road closed. I was disappointed, but opted to take the Grove of the Patriarchs trail eastern side, and was rewarded for my choice! Temp going in-40 degrees, coming out-27 degrees! Not too cold for me, but with the upper elevations and less oxygen, your lungs sure do feel it! You won't hear me complain though, I'll be back for more!!

Mt. Rainier- Oct. 09' #2 : We finally had some better weather this weekend, so Phil and I headed up to Mt. Rainier. Unfortunately, the better weather did not quite reach the mountains! When we arrived at Tipsoo Lake, it was snowing and misty. We spent the morning and part of the afternoon waiting for it to clear, and in some parts of the park it did. For the most part fall is over, so I will look forward to capturing some winter scenes on my next trip!

Mt. Rainier-Oct. '09 : I am dying to get some great fall images in Mt. Rainier, but the weather is really hindering that goal! I headed up anyway, just to get a feel for where the color is, and it is spectacular!! This time I hiked the Grove of the Patriarchs trail. It's a short trail, (I didn't want to get caught in a downpour!) but it is quite pretty.

Mt. Rainier-Sept. "09 : I spent yesterday hiking around Mt. Rainier, trying to get a feel for the park as well as some great locations to shoot. The weather report called for clouds, but no such luck! Who could complain about a beautiful sunny day in the park though! When I first arrived, I stopped off to see the view that is the first image in this gallery. The first thing I heard was the beautiful sound of a bugleing elk. I haven't heard that wonderful sound in 13 years!!! Travelers note-make sure you have a full tank of gas when you go to the park, they do not sell it anywhere in the park!! I originally intended to just stop and look here and there, but I ended up taking a hike up at Paradise. This hike went up and up and up, and now I can barely move! I think this one was tougher than Garfield Peak at Crater Lake!!

Crater Lake : Crater Lake is an amazing place that everyone should take the time to visit. Before this trip, I did a lot of research online looking for photos that would give me a good idea of photographic vantage points. I really did not find what I was looking for on the web, and now I know why. Crater Lake is extremely difficult to photograph. It's a 5 mile by 6 mile lake inside of a volcano. When it is sunny out, the lake is an unbelievable blue that you could not imagine. From a photographer's standpoint, the best time of day for shooting is early morning and early evening. There's just one problem, the sun is below the volcano so you don't get to take advantage of that! I found that all of my favorite photos came from one day, and that was when a storm rolled in. I think most of my photos have more to do with documenting what is there, rather than being my typical scenic images. Please read my comments on the images, there will be quite a few! All images are for sale, so if you see anything you like, please contact me.

Wyoming : Wyoming, probably my favorite place on earth. We only got to spend a few days in Grand Teton, so I got out as much as possible to see as much as I could. I miss my old stomping ground, and hope to get back there again in the near future. Enjoy the gallery, and be patient with me and my comments as I catch up on tons of editing!!! If you see anything you like, all images are for sale. Feel free to contact me!

Volvo Graveyard : This was my third photo shoot with the Cleveland Photographic Society. We had a good turn out with a great bunch of people. The day was hot and muggy. By the time I got home I was ready for a shower and air conditioning. .
