Volvo Graveyard : This was my third photo shoot with the Cleveland Photographic Society. We had a good turn out with a great bunch of people. The day was hot and muggy. By the time I got home I was ready for a shower and air conditioning. .

Surf's Up On Lake Erie : On October 4th I traveled to Ashtabula County with a group of photographers from Medina County. When we got burned out on covered bridges we went to Conneaut to watch the windsurfers on Lake Erie. It was a windy day and the windsurfers were inside the breakwall. Half the fun was driving on the beach! I didn't know there was a place on Lake Erie where you could actually drive on the beach.

Covered Bridges of Ashtabula County Ohio : On October 4th I went to Ashtabula County with the Medina Photographers Of The Parks. We visited some covered bridges and then the group separated up and some of us photographed the wind surfers on Lake Erie (that's another gallery). Some of these photos are from our October 4th trip, I took some of the other photos earlier in the year, and there are a few that I took 3 years ago with an old digital camera that I don't use any more.

Benezette, PA - Elk : I and my photographer friend made the journey to Benezette PA for the Elk rut. Weather, animals, gear and numerous other obstacles made for a real challenge in my first serious wildlife shoot! When the lighting was right, the elk were too far away for my to small, too slow 28-300mm (at 300 it's at f6.3). When the elk were up close and personal, the fog was thick as pea soup or it was well after dark! They refused to pose with nice backdrops...LOL! All in all though it was great too see and hear bugling elk for the first time in my life. They are beautiful, graceful and yes comical at times. It was a great time in PA and I also got to see and try to photograph a wild black bear. I felt like Steve Irwin and wanted to turn to someone and yell "By crikey-she's a real beauty!!!" Should you find the time to wander over to Benezette, photo or not - it's a great experience!

Washington Elk : The weather has been pretty crummy around here, overcast and rain. I decided to head up to Mount Rainier just to check out the fall colors, and on my way up I ran into this herd. I stopped and watched the cows and calves, and then I heard some big sticks cracking. Then came the sweet sound of a bugleing bull, and he was headed my way. I waited until he stepped out of the woods, and was only able to capture a few frames of him before he disappeared again. What a wonderful bonus to take away the gloom!
