My Smug Mug : Our Vision of Success

Michigan Youth Cycling is a Michigan 501 © (3) Non-Profit Corporation, the mission of which is to promote physical activity among youth and families through sports, manly competitive cycling. Our mission is multifaceted in concept:

A.Recognize Student athletes by awarding scholarships in an effort to support their educational endeavors.

B.To aid in the development of the youth as a student, community service, as well as offering coaching and skills advancement through the experience and support of adult team members.

C.To promote the sport of cycling as a viable athletic option to all interested youth, regardless of socioeconomic status. We will develop sponsorship programs, the recycling of bicycles and private public partnerships to fulfill the financial demands of the sport.

D.To advocate physical activity and access to healthy completion that promotes the physical and mental health of youth people, as well as providing a forum for the development of skills such as teamwork, self discipline, sportsmanship, leadership and socialization.

E.To promote family and community involvement in our race against time for the health and well being of youth by developing strategies to create more sidewalks, bicycle paths trails and recreation facilities throughout our communities.

2009 UCI Trials World Cup Rotorua Friday : Trial is one of the most exciting of all cycling disciplines. The cyclists have to get over obstacles grouped into “sections”, without ever setting foot on the ground (or they incur penalties). The most common obstacles are rocks and shrubs, but can be almost anything : huge cardboard boxes, cars, tables, etc. After negotiating a series of “sections”, the rider who has collected the fewest penalty points is declared the winner.
