A road near the river, a side road, approaching the morning jam-packed bridge over to the industrial area (Honda, Canon and others...)
Editing in GIMP, still struggling with it.
DPChallenge > popular all-time > Seattle Moment
This was taken on the street in Seattle near the Westlake Center on a cool fall day in 2008. This father and daughter had stopped at a Starbucks, gotten their Latte (and presumably Latte Bianco for her) and were reading in the warm sun. I love the intimacy of this moment.

DPChallenge > popular all-time > Tiger's Nest - Near Paro, Bhutan
I took this photo in October 2008. To reach my present vantage point I had hiked for about 2 hours and gained about 1,800 vertical feet. This monastery is known in Bhutan as Taktshang Goemba.

DPChallenge > popular all-time > Day 5 - Leaf me Alone

I guess you poke fun at IT related stuff long enough it will get even with you. It was one of those days.

This was durning a smoke break, while pacing back and forth.

At least I got to shoot the 100-400mm that I picked up last weekend. I've been using the 11-18 tammy so far in my IT shots.
DPChallenge > popular all-time > 28 October. My afternoon's work. I brought home some clay from last week's pottery class, and I bought a hand wheel (it's under the board).
IT's my own idea, inspired when I was sketching and recalling the shape of the building of the Australian Academy of Science in Canberra. The building is now called the Shine Dome.
THE end result will be a vase. First I made a cylinder using a beer can and put a base on it. Then I made a coiled pot, cut a hole in the bottom and attached the cup. Inverting it, I used a stencil to cut out the arched shapes in the pot. It'll stay that way until it's dry enough to stand by itself.
I GUESS it's pretty advanced work for a beginner, but at least I'll get to see it when it has dried out. The other four things aren't advanced at all - I just made some chopstick rests for a family I know, using the clay I cut out.
HMM, maybe I should have done some Levels or something in the editing of this photo...
