"76 takes and Phhewwww....." I have been planning to take a shot of spalsh for a while and today was the day. Though I didn't achieve the kind of shot I wanted to take , I felt this shot was decent enough . I took this shot near my kitchen window for good lighting and not sure if it's a good idea for such shots.I felt I need to practice these water shots to get good at accuracy. I will continue this experiment sometime in future. For now .oohoo, this is it :-) Have a happy sunday everyone ! for July 23 post. On the hottest day of the year , I get the idea that a walk along the trail near me will be cooler due to the tree canopy. Well it wasn't ,and the bugs were "not a pretty sight". I used SP night on my camera for this one and was hanging over a log and drenched in sweat. It could be sharper but I like the underside effect.and the effort it took merited a post. Where have all the crickets gone?
Tuesday, February 15, 2011 "LINES AND SWIRLS" Abstract "Bright colours or dark ones, sparkling clarity or misty atmosphere, landscape, still life, portrait - I haven't met a subject, style, or mood yet that can't be portrayed beautifully in pastel." ~ Dave Beckett By date, this is my 10th pp creation! Here's a link to the original: http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/15299231_BkGGq#1188286892_VWMmf Thanks a million for your shout-outs on yesterday's Valentine's Day post; it landed and remained in the #3 spot. You all really showed me some "love!" Also, I "loved" perusing your beautiful photos! Have a "Terrific Today," everyone! ***#1 photo of the day and all time*** (original photo taken 1/23/2011 and pp 2/14/2011)
May 10, 2011-Coming out of it's shell. I never actually seen this stage and thought it was cool to see it as it was actually happening. (Day 130:365 @sharkbayte)
Best friends Marlice and her cheetah at sunset, Na'ankuse, Namibia. Cheetah are the most 'tameable' of the big cats when raised from a very young age, as this one was, but they are still wild animals. Marlice and her colleagues at the Na'ankuse Foundation have the skills and the proper facilities to take good care of the cheetahs and to rehabilitate them for release into the wild. (They have the loudest, most fantastic purr I have ever heard!!)
May 8, 2009 - "A Distant Scene" - My wife captured these wonderfully textured arches funneling to a mini scene in the distance. For more of her photos from our Austin trip last week go to this gallery http://dakotacowboy.smugmug.com/gallery/8113712_sBWkb/1/528954472_gwiNX Arches photographed at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center - http://www.wildflower.org/
"Photo 365" Well,I am little nervous as this is my first SP in dailies and equally excited as I completed one year with my Daily Showcase. I also couldn't get the results as I wanted with my SP due to bad lighting, focus and other issues. I gave a thought for a while before posting but going ahead and finally posting one of the many shots I tried. A BIG thank you to everyone personally in the daily community who encouraged me with many wonderful comments and valuable suggestions all year round. I wasn't keen on continuing after 2-3 months of posting the dailies due to lack of time , but I kept going just because of everyone's support in the daily community. I would be stepping into my 2nd year of dailies with a new gallery and I hope I will take wonderful shots and equally enjoy more beautiful pictures in the daily community posted by everyone of you in days to come. Thank you everyone ! When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence. ~Ansel Adams
Mammatus clouds at sunset, just after the storm, which had included some hail. Mammatus clouds seem to be relatively rare and usually occur in association with fairly severe storms. I've only seen them a few times and this is the first opportunity I've had to capture them in a photo. It was nice that they occurred as the sun was setting. I do appreciate all the comments on my shot of the clematis bud. You folks are great!
1/18/13 - Great horned owl Thanks so much for your comments on my shot of the coyote. What an amazing variety of shots today on smugmug! I really enjoyed browsing through them. You guys sure know how to keep me inspired!
Puss 'n' Boots Spotted this little family while out exploring for photo ops yesterday. Day 53: April 11, 2010
January 17 In memory of "Vaks" who passed quietly away yesterday. He was for us a good, loyal friend for 12 years, but as a Fox Terrier also setting his own priorities. He was our ship dog for 6 years when we were yachting in the summertime. When we moved to Fanoe his favorite occupation was hunting rabbits. Until two year ago he caught at least one a day, and was so proud, when he returned home with his catch. This picture was taken in 2002 with my analog Leica M6 camera and later digitalized. Thank you for your comforting comments yesterday .
Colourful Trip We had a brilliant stay in West Cork. This is Eyeries. Due to cars on the sunny side of the street I had to opt for this side but it still captures the bold colours of the entire village. This was taken around 18.15 (6.15pm) Eyeries, renowned for its multi-coloured houses and its panoramic views over the Atlantic has two pubs, two shops, one of these with petrol and diesel pumps, a cafe/restaurant and a post office/shop. In every year since 2003 it has won either a gold or silver medal in the small village category of the Ireland Tidy Towns competition. http://www.eyeries.com/index.html Thank you all for the lovely birthday and anniversary wishes. We appreciate every one of them. July 25, 2011
3rd year Pic 212 - Apr 23 2011 Bubbles 2 Thank you for your comments on my yesterday's picture. This is the same man but taken head-on with the light on his right. The background is one of the posters hung up on the wall behind him and thought it added a bit of a drama to the shot! ADDED: The man was selling the kit for making bubbles, the liquid in a bottle and a simple contraption to blow the bubbles. This is best seen in large size. The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival is an annual festival, usually around nine days long, held in late January or early February, in the Kala Ghoda area of South Mumbai, India. The Festival is organised by the Kala Ghoda Association (a non-profit organisation that states its objectives as "physically upgrading the Kala Ghoda sub-precinct and making it the Art District of Mumbai") and curated by teams handling each of the sub-festivals. The sub-festivals feature the visual arts, dance, music, theatre, cinema, literature, lectures, seminars and workshops, heritage walks, special events for children, and a vibrant street festival. Entry to all events is free to all (only restricted by the size of the venues) and costs are met through corporate sponsorship. http://www.kalaghodaassociation.com/OpinionPollAns.aspx http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kala_Ghoda_Arts_Festiva
Thursday, July 12, 2012 "CARNIVAL BOAT" with REEDS, MARLINS, and NIIJIMA FLOATS by Dale Chihuly "The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love color the most." ~ John Ruskin Color my world - the sheer exuberance of a boat full of party balloons!! Here's a closeup of the boat that was in yesterday's photo. I like fab, but not drab. I LOVE color, and apparently, so does Dale Chihuly. If art is the expression of imagination, then Dale and I both dream in very vivid colors. An encounter with Dale Chihuly's works is always a spectacular reminder that glass is not just something to see through or drink out of. "Chihuly first filled boats wit his glass elements in Nuutajarvi, Finland during the Chihuly Over Venice project in June 1995. After several days of glassblowing in the hotshop, the team made temporary installations along the Nuutajoki, the river nearby. Chihuly then filled it with Chandelier parts and other glass forms that were blown during the Finland trip." ~ Reprinted text from DA&BG's brochure Dale Chihuly's official website is www.chihuly.com Hang in there; tomorrow is Friday! A flower for Amy (Wilburn) Seeing Amy's stunning image of Jesse I tried the technique on a sun flower pic. Thanks Amy! Would love to hear your comments and ideas on how to improve on it. Amy's pic: http://amywilburn.smugmug.com/popular/1/291882496_FgD7Y/Medium
"76 takes and Phhewwww....."

I have been planning to take a shot of spalsh for a while and today was the day. For now .oohoo, this is it :-)

Have a happy sunday everyone !
