Sunset reflection - Jan 30 2009 A beautiful and sunny winter day deserves a sunset as DP. Grabbed this one on my way home, a couple of kilometers from our house. Have a great weekend!!
2/13/09 EASTERN MEADOWLARK Let me begin by thanking you all for all the warm compliments on my photos the last several days. I have tried to comment on some of yours as well, but slow internet and busy vacation days make it hard to get to everyone right now. This is my first ever photo of a meadowlark. They are so skiddish at times that you can't get close enough to capture the image. I have several photos of him singing which I hope to share later . Picture this...this is how I captured this image. We're riding down a dusty, Florida back road in the "country" and there he is down the way on a fence post. I open my door and we crawl slowly towards the gorgeous guy. Bob stops the car at a reasonable distance and I prop my lens between the door frame and the car frame just above the hinge (more-less)...what a great image stabilitzer (lol) and a good blind too , it seems. I'm happy...isn't he a beauty? HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND...AND MANY THANKS AGAIN FOR STOPPING BY ALL THESE DAYS...
11/15/09 - Escape Into an Alternate Reality (or something like that) I've been wanting to take pictures of the box cars in Fuquay for a while now. Yesterday I finally stopped to do so. Always something neat about trains to me. I've been staring at this car with the open doors for quite some time. It hasn't moved for months. Anyway, I grabbed some pictures of it and it's buddies and played around with them last night. With no special effects, I guess they are just orange box cars:-( So I converted to B&W and played with settings. Still boring. Then I decided to try and do a 'Wizard of OZ' kindof thing where it's B&W on one side but color through the door. I tried 5 pictures for the color one at least and different processing of them too. I'm not really happy with the outcome, but it's what I worked on last night, so I'll upload it today anyway. The sci fi girl in me keeps thinking wormhole or Stargate and that I need movement between the sides. But then the City on the Edge of Forever didn't have too much motion I don't think in that door. That said, maybe I needed to wave the inserted picture. Well, I twirled it anyway. Something to think about some more! Some other trials and the original are in my November gallery here: http://fotomom.smugmug.com/Nature/November-2009/10198920_oRbHf#713619436_AGvdo Poor Johnny caught the stomach bug that Joey had and he and I missed the birthday party yesterday...just heartbreaking. Hopefully he is some better today. Have a great Sunday! Maryann
092311 Have a Colorful and Enjoyable Fall My favorite cornfield. This was taken on a visit to the Finger Lakes in New York just south of Ithaca. I wanted something special for the first day of fall and it is too early here to capture the trees like this.
June 16th, 2010: Sun Bleached Brilliance “Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.” - Hindu Prince Gautama Siddharta Hope you all have a great day.
3rd year Pic 322 - Sep 05 2011 Tiger crossing Ranthambhore Natonal Park During a ride in Ranthambhore National Park we had watched this Tigress, T17, sleeping near the lake. When she got up the driver of our Maruti Gypsy (an open Jeep type vehicle you can see at the far end) drove off and waited at the end of the road she would take. He knew she'd come out and cross over to another road. We waited for 3-4 minutes and sure enough she emerged and crossed us diagonally at a distance of about 100 feet! What was interesting was that the people beyond the entrance to the park were unaware of her presence! I've taken the liberty of posting two pictures today. The other one shows T17 in the middle of the road. Hope you enjoy both the pictures. Best seen in bigger size Added on 6th Sept. Kara and Ed, The Tigress was inside Ranthambhore National park. The doors are closed soon as a vehicle enters the park but as it was closing time they were open for the Gypsies to exit.

Simple Beauty - Jun 4 2009 Many thanks for the nice comments on my butterfly shot! This rose would have been yesterdays DP, but I was too excited about those dazzling butterflies. I gladly offer this beauty to all you who visit my daily gallery, you're the best!!!
Four in a row - Dec 3 2008 Finished work quite early today and the sun was in a good mood... so I drove by a little harbor to try my luck with some ships/boats. But these were way to cute to pass. Told you already that I have a thing with animals ;-)
02/13/12 - Superman and Superwoman Battling Cancer My Blog: http://maryanng.blogspot.com/2012/02/superman-and-superwoman-battling-cancer.html You guys have seen quite a few pictures of Donnie, and you know that he wears his hair pretty short.  When my hair was coming out after chemo, we started joking about taking a picture of us as twins.  I try to be a good sport.  Yesterday was the day.  I know some people would never allow themselves to be seen without their wig, but I'm not some people.  I am what I am.  I appreciate that the wig helps me look more like my usual self, though!  Maybe someone else going through a similar situation will see this picture and be a little stronger to deal with their cancer hair loss after seeing my picture.  There are awesome super men out there like my Donnie who love you no matter what and don't focus on what you look like on any given day but just remember the pretty girl they fell in love with no matter what.  I'm a lucky girl, and Donnie is a good sport. Off to my third chemo today. Then hopefully only one more to go! HAGD, Maryann
Spring Colors - Mar 23 2009 We had our last 'spring' day for now... it's raining cats and dogs. So here's a little color to get trough the wet and dark days.
Lupine high on the mountain Spent some time today at Timberline on Mt Hood. Starting at around 6000 ft near the Timberline Lodge we followed this trail up to about 7000 ft. ~Deb 7/25/09

I don't know what it is - but if nothing else, it certainly is unique!!!!!

Here's the Beast car, seen recently at a classic car show. As I said before - I don't know what this car was 'born' to be, but here's what it is today. I looked for an information card that might give me a clue to make, model, year - but there was none.

So suffice it to say - it's probably one of a kind.

Have a unique day full of pleasant surprises!
