12-21: This is another from the foggy morning at the Collindale golf course. The fog was freezing on some of the trees branches and needles
Sep.6,2006 Crown Royale Was trying to get a crown of two different colors. Wish it was sharper and more in focus, but this is a promising beginning I think. Had to get different paints, thin them down to the point where they'd actually give a crown instead of a blob, and set up lighting to not give harsh shadows but still enough light for a fast shutter. This picture on photo.net was the inspiration for the shot.
"Those Eyes" details best seen @ size X3 While walking through my kids TV room last night I noticed a great beam of natural sunlight coming through the front window as the sun was going down and then saw my daughter Alexa's eyes catching the light as well. So I made her get off the couch (I know I'm a terrible Dad LOL) and had her stare out of the window. I should have went to get my 50mm Nikkor or 90mm Tamron for this Portrait to get a sharper image but I was lazy and stuck with the 18-200 VR that was on the body but I think it did a fine job, impressed me really. When seen as large as possible you can see each individual eye lash reflected on her retina, pretty cool! I then hit this with my normal Portraiture work flow & slight glamour treatment, removed a bunch of small hairs in between the nose, shaped her brows and did some very minor burning to bring out her cheek bone a little bit and that's it. The shadow is all natural just using proper exposure settings and shooting tight to prevent any of the background in the room from showing. Alexa's eyes are usually a nice blue but she was wearing a purple shirt which turns them a wild greenish aqua blue seen here. She's my favorite model and loves to have her photo taken so we both make out on the deal whenever I want to do a portrait to keep my skills sharp ;) I like this one so much I'll be ordering it in a large format lustre print or possibly a canvas to hang on my office wall! ~I just love my kids ~ Hope you all like it, Have a Great Day everyone ! PS: This image has been the #1 Rated photo on my site since it's post date. Please click on the 'Green Thumbs Up' sign over the image if you agree to keep it rated #1 ~Bill~
John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. I was playing around a little yesterday and thought of this scripture when I was done.
'Delicate Beauty'...11/01/2010... Thank you for the kind comments yesterday, it was a very busy day with no time for commenting, will certainly get caught up today, though work will be hectic as usual.
2-23: I woke up at 5:30 Sunday morning thinking about work and a task I'm supposed to finish soon so I decided to go to work for a while. I know it sounds really sad but it did give me an opportunity to take some pictures! This was taken near the Arapaho Bend natural area just down the hill from HP. I like the morning light on the grass
Cabin-0461 This is what home looked like early Monday morning. The trees, especially the two corkscrew-willows, were simply amazing with all the wet snow clinging to them. Since I don't see it very often, one thing I had forgotten about snow is it's tough to shoot! The light was only favorable for a short time and the wind was enough to ruin a lot of the more graceful scenes early on, but it certainly was a pleasant change from all the dead winter vegetation. But all that's over now - Bring on Spring!
Cotton-grass grows in wetlands. They are app. 30 cm (1 ft) high, so I got wet elbows and stomach to catch them at this angle
365 Passiflora D300 with Tamron 90mm macro ISO400 f9 at 1/200 This was shot at cousin's garden at Ahmedabad. No crop or PP except for a bit of colour correction. Thanks again to Bill (Pador) for recommending this lens! ==== ONE YEAR COMPLETE! ==== Today's picture is special. It not just marks my 365th contribution to the Daily gallery, it reminds me that its been a year here. A year-long experience of understanding and learning about new cultures, places and people; a year-long association with like-minded people and a year-long friendship with so many of you. The encouragement and support I've got from all of you in this duration, is something I cherish and respect. Looking forward to many many more such interactions to come. www.javeri.net
10.2.08 - Fire in the Sky. Blame Lady Kate for this one! Another beautiful day here in the UK, and lots of photo opportunities. I thought long and hard about using this one, especially as it is from the same place as yesterday's DP, but couldn't resist it in the end. I took loads of shots to try and capture this view. It was really difficult getting any sort of balance between the foreground and the incredible sky. I ended up quite a long way away, almost laying on my stomach at 200mm. People couldn't work out what I was trying to photograph, until I invited them to "lay down here with me"! I got a few funny looks, but eventually the assembled throng realised what I was doing!
11-23-12 This is one of my favorite images that I decided to share. Critiques Welcome.
Normally this a dry lake bed in the desert. Not so dry this year. With a nother storm brewing I couldn't rezist capturing the clouds reflections where they are seldom seen. I'd also like to thank everyone for all of thier inspiring and encourageing comments. Alot of people ask about the pp. Here it is (HDR) normally +3,normal,-3 stops.
08-17-11 Ruby-throated hummingbird; best viewed in the largest sizes. Taken in Teal Campground in southern Colorado. Thanks to those of you who found my photo for yesterday and liked it well enough to post a comment. Much appreciated. Have a great day!
5-18: Sorry for no comments today - Melanie (my wife) had me doing chores almost all day long :( I'll try to catch up soon. We were driving by a farm near Lions Park natural area north of Fort Collins and this section of fence caught my eye. I think those little glowing round things are dandelion seed puff things.
