As we were driving home from dinner out last evening, the sun suddenly broke through some holes in the clouds and created this scene. I hopped out of the car and quickly captured a few shots. This is one of them. I'm glad so many of you like the shot of the two hummers. Thanks for taking the time to comment. I sure enjoyed all your shots today...lots of wonderful images.
Autumn Symphony #3......
I went out fog hunting yesterday and came home with this instead....and 124 others! The creek had trees over-hanging and every time the breeze blew, more drops would fall off the leaves and onto the water. The swampy looking bubbles are actually the water droplets, in varying stages of hitting the water's surface. The color is the foliage in the background. The original shot is very similar to this with the exception of luminance. The younger generation (my kids and all their friends) really like it. I'm kinda fond of it, too.
08/07/10 - Beauty on Orange
For the 3rd day this week, I took my lunch break at Porter Farms and Nursery to get some refreshment at the ice cream stand and take butterfly pictures on their butterfly bushes. Nextdoor to Porters is Ogburn Landscape Supplies. Johnny has been fascinated this week watching the front loaders load mulch and rock into pick-up trucks. Mom has been using the one pile of orange tone sand for picture back-drops. The butterfly bushes are positioned just right;-) At any point, I realize I've posted 5 swallowtail shots already in 3 months, but this one seemed so different with the orange tone background and underbelly perspective that I thought I'd share it too.

I'm thinking NC State Fairgrounds this AM for the flea market followed by the JC Raulstron Arboretum (which is a mile away) afterward if it's not too warm. We haven't done the flea market in a while, and I don't think I've ever taken the boys to that arboretum.

It's tax free weekend in NC which means saving about 7.25% on clothes, school supplies, and computers. Kohl's was packed last night!

Hoping you are having a great weekend so far and that it continues!

Bermuda Colors

I love this island, it is so beautiful and colorful, the people are so friendly. We went down to St. George yesterday, outside one of the outdoor restaurants were a few tables with umbrellas that were closed because of the winds. This is a close up of the different colors of the umbrella.

Have a great day everyone!

What a day we had yesterday weather wise. The temperature hovered around 60 degrees, it was so nice. All the snow that fell on Monday is quickly disappearing. I have been eager to give my new 70-300 lens a test run so I headed off to the zoo. I think even the animals were enjoying the wonderful spring day, they seemed to be more active than usual. I was lucky to catch this cheetah as she was getting ready to settle down for a nap. She went through her cleaning routine then struck this pose, then curled up and went to sleep. I was surprised at how this well this came out considering it was shot through a filthy glass window.
