October 1, 2007 My fav spot at the lake. Rick your right, I can't seem to get enough of these shots.
3.10.09 - Ghost in the Machine Ghostly goings on at Gainsborough Old Hall. I've had this idea ever since I found out that this was called the "ghost corridor", so while I was trapped inside the PC I thought I'd have a go at creating this. It is the first time I've experimented with layers in this way, maybe I should have made Lydia even more transparent, but hey I'm sure I'll try this again. Those of you that haven't already seen my gallery of the Hall might want to check this out; http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/History/GAINSBOROUGH-OLD-HALL/9662694_gb4gb#652216254_Fyruu Thanks for the wonderful response to my silly SP yesterday, it was a lot of fun making that :)
June 29, 2008 Morning catch. Thanks for all your prayers, they seem to be working because my mom seemed a little better yesterday. She smiled allot although I think she's very scared. I got up early yesterday before visiting hours so I could shoot a little. It is certainly a good release. Or after hours I see if anything is out and about. The nurses have been so super to her. When I can't visit with her because of visiting hours I'll call and talk to the nurses to check on her. They are so good about going and telling her everything. She is in a sort of icu. They call it a step down. ps. I told her how everyone is praying for her and she had tears in her eyes. They are having a hard time with her bp right now so keep your fingers crossed.
Mural Reflections, Omaha NE This is the back of a "Family Dollar," store. The mural depicts some of the small businesses around this neighborhood. The puddles are from the snowmelt. We parked in this lot to eat at our favorite Indian restaurant in Omaha, "Mother India." Mother India is very small and only has seating for maybe 20 people and there can be a line just to get in the door. The food is made from scratch when you order so it can take a while, but the food is amazing. For other pictures of this mural and Mother India see my Christmas in Omaha gallery here: http://paulbellinger.smugmug.com/Other/Christmas/15254580_KJNZZ#1141323353_fejg3 Daily photo: December 30, 2010, taken December 28, 2010
Do Ya Really Wanna Get Any Closer? Just before the supermarket escapade I recounted a couple of days ago, as I got out of my car in the parking lot, a car pulled in beside me and this guy was poking his head out the window. I had my fisheye lens on the camera and asked his owner if I could take his picture. She actually had another great dane in the car and it was poking its head out the driver side window. The woman had almost no room for herself. Both dogs were barking but they were very sweet when you held out your hand to be sniffed. Really gorgeous dogs! Anyway, this was MY "close encounter of the third kind." I'm posting this early and going to bed, as I have a wedding to shoot tomorrow morning and I must get an early start. Have a great Saturday!
Morning sunrise in the fog going 70 mph on our way home.
01.10.11 - Fireball This represents our remarkable Indian Summer in the UK, as temperatures soar towards 90F. We broke the all time record for October on the first day of the month! I've not been around all weekend, so I'll take this opportunity to thank the small minded moron(s) who thumbed down my collage on Friday. To the extent that at one point it was on page 2, despite twice as many comments as the photo in first place on page 1. I know I'm not the only one who had this, Phil Nix suffered the same idiot and I'm sure others have too. Dianne Ward left the Dailies after several years because of it last week, yet again the thought is crossing my mind.
3-29: My older daughter and her family just moved into a townhouse and nearby I saw some interesting art work on the train cars. The composition isn't quite what I wanted - but I still kind of like it.
Red barn boards gleam in the early spring air!
Happy New Year Baltimore's New Year's Inner Harbor Fireworks The New Year's fireworks were postponed on New Year's Eve because of poor weather. They were rescheduled for early New Year's evening. The wind was calm and the crowd was small and I was blessed with a great opportuninity to get a nice photograph.
30.11.08 - Peace and Contemplation This image was left over from a couple of days ago when I did the misty collage. I always felt that I could do something else with this, and in the end this is just a sepia photo filter, but it conveys the feelings I wanted to get across, so I'm really happy with it. At the time I sloppily let the back of my car intrude into the photo, so that was cloned out. But otherwise it is just a B&W conversion, an adjustment of contrast and the sepia filter. I love these misty days with the sun trying to break through, and the stark silhouettes of the trees, mind you, it was bloody cold :) There is an alternative treatment here which emphasises the cold a bit more; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/4328734_9ZqLR#427338235_SzU46 For those of you that asked about my curry night, it was a lot of fun. I love cooking, especially Indian food, and this was a chance to show off a bit with friends. They brought liquid refreshment, I did the food, and we all got totally stuffed! I'm now eating the leftovers, which are even tastier than last night :)
30JAN2012 I have been a little under the weather lately, this is a shot I got from the Indianola balloon festival in Indianola Iowa, it was one of the first images I shot with my first digital camera. I had purchased a five hundred roll pack of film a year prior to this shot and had just run out of film. Paul jr. found the camera in St louis and went and got it for us and off to the races we went.....The camera doesn't fell good in my hand yet but heck I shot almost five thousand frames with that old film camera......hope I get more like this, hope you enjoy it! I don't have photoshop....background is real, looking toward the North, real hazy out, sun is in and out of the clouds right at sunset, thanks for asking! I was not in a balloon, they are the last ones up and out...real distinctive crafts, almost like the ones used to go around the world, haven't seen many of this type before this event. You don't see many with animals on the sides either... #1 picture 30JAN2012
Grass-1452 A shot of Dad's lawn from a bug's perspective, looking into the setting sun. The soft-focus was achieved by shooting through the grass which was between the lens and the blades I focused on. I used the 70-200 2.8 with stacked 20 & 36mm extension tubes, which allowed me to focus at about 6 inches.
1-04: This is another from Thursday, actually taken a few minutes before yesterday's post. This shot was taken looking towards the other end of Horsetooth. As you can see, it's a very long and fairly narrow reservoir. It's amazing how fast the sky was changing - a lot of this color was gone in just a matter of seconds. It's also unusual how calm the water is. Normally you won't see a reflection this good on Horsetooth because of the wind.
"The Foggy Lake" I couldn't decide on which version of this image I wanted to put up today so instead of going nuts I decided to place them BOTH in my daily gallery since I was a day behind on my listings anyway. This is the COLOR version that has been processed using NIK COLOR EFEX PRO 3 and then adding some minor Contrast & sharpening. The B&W version of can be seen as the next image in this gallery or if you can here by way of the Daily main page you can CLICKING HERE Let me know which one YOU like the best ! Enjoy Folks !
