A different perspective on the statue of the horses. Someone asked if the horses were meant to be wild horses and i believe they are. It truly is a magnificent statue, one I pass almost daily. Thanks for all the comments on the fireman climbing the ladder statue shot. I really appreciate your input. The week is nearly half over...hope yours is going well. Amazing group of shots today and i loved perusing them!
05.02.10 - Eclipse We had a big orange hazy sunset this evening. I was trying to avoid my usual big sky type of sunset photo, so I put the long lens on and had a play around with silhouettes. This one took my fancy :) There is a slightly different version here; http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/Photography/INSPIRATION/10329875_Lpojy#781730475_NvGeX
Monument Valley
It's Mister dirty nose!
May 25 - Fastball To answer the question before it is asked, yes the ball was really on fire. The answer to the second question, a little on the tip of my index finger, which is why it is more bent in this shot.
13.02.10 - Lady of the Butterflies This morning I was fortunate to be involved in another wonderful unique project. The full gallery is here; http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/Other/THE-LADY-OF-THE-BUTTERFLIES/11225711_ir6mU#787274992_Jw5Az I rarely do portrait work, so always jump at the chances when they come along. Hopefully this is another of those images that few would recognise instantly as one of mine. I did a B&W conversion, increased the contrast slightly, then applied a touch of warming filter. Tomorrow we are shooting at Goltho Church, which is where I shot the snowdrops that I used for my Daily on Wednesday.
Happy Easter (4-8-07) I found the bird that lays the easter eggs ;). It's a Lilac-breasted Roller.
Day 113 - A stellar's jay, captured in my yard, as it was trying to get peanuts from a wreath peanut feeder. Although the light was quite bright when I took this shot, using my 400 mm lens at 1/8000th of a second, it was not bright enough to keep the image from being noisy. I have cleaned up most of the noise because I like the bird's position, but there is still a tiny bit of noise in the image. We have lots of stellar's jays in the Black Forest of Colorado where I live and a few regular blue jays. It is almost midnight and I have been processing images almost for eight hours straight. I'm going to post this and go to bed. Have a great day! Thanks to everyone for their comments on my iris and peony images, as well as my image for the "Liquid" challenge. I really appreciate the time you all take to provide feedback and support.
9.3.09 - Seasons Thanks for all the kind words yesterday, I don't think I've got the flu, otherwise I'd be in bed, but I've definitely got a bug of some sort. Thanks for the comments about the stamp I was making in my SP Daily yesterday too, so I thought I'd share the full set with you today. Have a great day :)
July 7th SUNFLOWER BEAUTY Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments on my flowers. I will continue to post them without guilt...however, the creative work I see in Dailies has inspired me to try to develop a photographic eye of other subjects as well. Your compliments and suggestions have been very helpful and appreciated. The original to this sunflower is below, very little difference between the two, but I liked this one with more "pop" to it. It was taken in the morning when the partial shade cast a bluish hue to the leaves..I liked how it blended with the greens. 20MAR2012 Country Storm...... Yesterday I was working at a friends home when a squall line came through, it just missed dumping torrential rains on me so just as it went speeding by I grabbed the camera and ran to the top of the hill trying to find something to put in the shot. Nebraska......Tha Good Life State they call it.......Hope your day doesn't look like this, enjoy. Thanks go out to Ginger and Ardell for having me out to such a special place! Thanks for all the wonderful comments....#1 wow I am humbled. This was quite a nasty little storm on the plains, who said fly over country couldn't be cool! Again thanks for stopping by and looking at my work!
Post 401 1/30/09 "What do you mean you took a detour home because of a leopard on the other side of the fence!? You expect me to believe that?" This is a 'file' photo from my December visit to Washington DC and an hour or so wandering the National Zoo. These guys were pretty active chasing and knocking eachother around in their enclosure. It was pretty eerie to see the leopard just on the other side of the fence watching them. I actually did not take a single photo today, which is pretty unusual, but a little crop and contrast on this makes it my potd! Have a great weekend...
"Beauty" It has been a long stressful day professionally, so I thought the best way to relax is by doing some SC :-) The b&w represents dull side of life and the colorful parrot represents my passion for photography and life. Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments on my daily yesterday :-) “The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love color the most.” ~ John Ruskin~
1/16/09 AMERICAN GOLDFINCH Not as sharp as I would like, but I sure liked this little bird. It is perched on top of a discarded Christmas tree that I dragged home to set up for the birds to take shelter in for the winter...it's a great prop, btw.... :-) It's currently -8.7 on the digital thermometer ..wind chill expected to go up into the -20's For some of you that's a warm up, but it's pretty wicked outside here!!
