Again thanks for stopping by and looking at my work!
"Beauty" It has been a long stressful day professionally, so I thought the best way to relax is by doing some SC :-) The b&w represents dull side of life and the colorful parrot represents my passion for photography and life. Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments on my daily yesterday :-) “The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love color the most.” ~ John Ruskin~
9.3.09 - Seasons Thanks for all the kind words yesterday, I don't think I've got the flu, otherwise I'd be in bed, but I've definitely got a bug of some sort. Thanks for the comments about the stamp I was making in my SP Daily yesterday too, so I thought I'd share the full set with you today. Have a great day :)
Post 401 1/30/09 "What do you mean you took a detour home because of a leopard on the other side of the fence!? You expect me to believe that?" This is a 'file' photo from my December visit to Washington DC and an hour or so wandering the National Zoo. These guys were pretty active chasing and knocking eachother around in their enclosure. It was pretty eerie to see the leopard just on the other side of the fence watching them. I actually did not take a single photo today, which is pretty unusual, but a little crop and contrast on this makes it my potd! Have a great weekend...
1/16/09 AMERICAN GOLDFINCH Not as sharp as I would like, but I sure liked this little bird. It is perched on top of a discarded Christmas tree that I dragged home to set up for the birds to take shelter in for the winter...it's a great prop, btw.... :-) It's currently -8.7 on the digital thermometer ..wind chill expected to go up into the -20's For some of you that's a warm up, but it's pretty wicked outside here!!
I am leaving..shot By Stoddard WI.. well I have been down with some fly bug since Wed.. and I really don't care about nothing.. Little better tonight,,, hopefully better tomorrow..
Hello everybody, I hope you like this image as much as my "Mother Robin" shot. This one was alot of hard work and patience. Also, please feel free to comment, reading your comments and visiting your site makes my day. The Gray Catbird (Dumetella carolinensis), also spelled Grey Catbird, is a medium-sized northern American perching bird of the mimid family. It is the only member of the "catbird" genus Dumetella. Like the Black Catbird (Melanoptila glabrirostris), it is among the basal lineages of the Mimidae, probably a closer relative of the Caribbean thrasher and trembler assemblage than of the mockingbirds and Toxostoma thrashers.[1]
February 6, 2009 Lonely - but hopeful? edited to add - thank you to everyone who commented. I had held on to this photo for a few weeks now - it is very personal for me. Has been kind of a rough 6 months for me emotionally and this photo really hit at my core. I wasn't sure I was going to post it - but for some reason this morning - it was ok and I did. I guess this is just one of those rare photos that reaches into you (the person taking it) deeper than many others and becomes special because it really speaks to you. We all like most of our photos - otherwise we wouldn't share them - but for me - as I am sure it is for all of you - we have the one or two rare and special ones. That is what this one is for me. I really wasn't sure what the reaction to it would be - your comments, your kindness, your encouragment and inspiration mean so very much to me. Thank you.
Day 21 - A late evening sky at Spruce Grove in Colorado; the image has been enhanced in Photoshop
25.11.08 - Men at Work! I would like to say that this shot was meticulously planned, but of course I was just incredibly lucky :) Around sunset I happened to be working near a footpath that runs between some sports fields. I thought that I might get a relatively clear view towards the Cathedral, so set off with the camera. I came to a nice gap in some trees and was looking at what I thought was a large weather vane, then it moved! Then the other guy appeared and I realised what I was looking at. The men working on the chimney are about 200metres away, the Cathedral is about 1km away. 5 metres either side and the guys were invisible, so very very lucky. I am so chuffed with this image, and tomorrow I'm going to see if I can find the workmen and show them this photo. There might be a sale in it :) PS. I've just noticed that this is my 300th Daily :)
July 7th SUNFLOWER BEAUTY Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments on my flowers. I will continue to post them without guilt...however, the creative work I see in Dailies has inspired me to try to develop a photographic eye of other subjects as well. Your compliments and suggestions have been very helpful and appreciated. The original to this sunflower is below, very little difference between the two, but I liked this one with more "pop" to it. It was taken in the morning when the partial shade cast a bluish hue to the leaves..I liked how it blended with the greens. Heres the original: http://Mom4squirrels.smugmug.com/gallery/2452453_zuNLx#327064827_ucnRm
05.02.10 - Eclipse We had a big orange hazy sunset this evening. I was trying to avoid my usual big sky type of sunset photo, so I put the long lens on and had a play around with silhouettes. This one took my fancy :) There is a slightly different version here; http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/Photography/INSPIRATION/10329875_Lpojy#781730475_NvGeX
"Sun kissed wheat fields" Call me crazy ! But nothing can beat the feeling of standing in between those wide spread wheat fields , stretching one's arms open and taking a deep breath looking at the sunny blue sky :-) “Happiness comes of the capacity to feel deeply, to enjoy simply, to think freely, to risk life, to be needed.” ~ Storm Jameson ~
"ICE STORM" We are in the middle of a 2 day Ice Storm here in North West NJ, it hasn't let up for almost 48 hours now and everything is covered in 1/4" - 1/2" of pure ice making traveling treacherous BUT for a photographer it's an awesome site. I didn't get out to the mountains for some full landscape shots so I walked out to my front yard and got some of my trees, bushes & grass that were pretty cool. A Lot of things look like snake skin like this berry tree. I hope this goes away soon, gotta get ready for the snow storm their calling for on Saturday LOL BTW this was shot hand held using my Tamron 90mm Di f/2.8 1:1 Macro, I love this lens ! PS: I have a bunch more ice storm images shot yesterday in my Weather gallery "CLICK HERE IF INTERESTED" Some really cool macro images came out of this storm ! ~Bill~
