Day 21 - A late evening sky at Spruce Grove in Colorado; the image has been enhanced in Photoshop
February 6, 2009 Lonely - but hopeful? edited to add - thank you to everyone who commented. I had held on to this photo for a few weeks now - it is very personal for me. Has been kind of a rough 6 months for me emotionally and this photo really hit at my core. I wasn't sure I was going to post it - but for some reason this morning - it was ok and I did. I guess this is just one of those rare photos that reaches into you (the person taking it) deeper than many others and becomes special because it really speaks to you. We all like most of our photos - otherwise we wouldn't share them - but for me - as I am sure it is for all of you - we have the one or two rare and special ones. That is what this one is for me. I really wasn't sure what the reaction to it would be - your comments, your kindness, your encouragment and inspiration mean so very much to me. Thank you.
8.7.08 - Busy Bee. This is another Daily that came about completely by accident. I was driving to meet the kids from school and had a few minutes to spare, so took a little detour to take some photos of some large round hay bales that I'd seen a few days ago. I took a few of them, and a couple can be found here; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/4518270_XDZuH#328255423_sfE8d Then I noticed a strip of wildflowers along the edge of a field of oilseed rape, right under my nose. I took a few of those too, which can be found here; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/4328734_9ZqLR#328266774_5HCEd Then this evening there was a bit of a sunset, and a couple of shots can be found here; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/4053411_yY5Qg#328260277_Ybmiv So it was a difficult choice, but I was so pleased at how sharp this little chap came out that he had to be my Daily for today, phew :) PS. and I still haven't got a proper macro lens, this was hand held with my trusty Nikkor 55-200mm, and it was windy.
"Sun kissed wheat fields" Call me crazy ! But nothing can beat the feeling of standing in between those wide spread wheat fields , stretching one's arms open and taking a deep breath looking at the sunny blue sky :-) “Happiness comes of the capacity to feel deeply, to enjoy simply, to think freely, to risk life, to be needed.” ~ Storm Jameson ~
This big elk was laying at the very top of a mountain in the tundra area of the RMNP.
10.4.09 - "The Ladye" Time for another photo from the Lady of Shalott project http://www.theladyofshalott.co.uk/index.html The film will be launched next month, but more imagery has been released recently so this isn't giving any secrets away now. This shot is from the first shoot I was involved in, back in September 2008. It was taken in Hartsholme Park at dusk, in an attempt to recreate a famous painting of The Lady, hence the treatment of this image. I have to admit that of all the tens of thousands of photos that I've taken this is one of my all time favourites. I love the dreamlike quality of it, and the simple fact that it is nothing like anything I've ever done before, and it was also a huge challenge to shoot at the time. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do :) I've been insanely busy the last couple of days so haven't been on the Dailies, but I'll try and catch up over the weekend, have a great Easter everyone!
May 18, 2009 - "If You Can't Play It, Flaunt It"
This is Willie, my neighbor's cat. Willie is 13 years old and has a mean streak in him. He will let you pet him, but, only three times and then he attacks you. His owner can't even pet him. And apparently Willie has a great memory. Day 16:365 @sharkbayte I am hoping Wilie stays up on the board this time around. Seems he has been removed a few times already. He's really a nice cat! I swear!
1-23: Quite a dramatic view of the out house near River Bend ponds. I never posted the color version but I like the B&W better. It looks like it's out in the middle of nowhere but actually it's pretty close to the parking lot - I have to walk passed it to get back to my car. This was taken shortly after sundown a couple of weeks ago.
April 25, 2008 Swinging Bridge at Tishomingo, Built in 1939 - I shot this same bridge about a year ago, and have always liked the pic, but was never really satisfied with it...I'm happier now- edit: the other shot. &nbsp
May 22... For the last 3 days we had a visit of 5 family members. We were very busy entertaining them so I had little time to post pictures. One of them was my youngest granddaughter, a real darling, so I shall share this picture with you

09/25/09 - I was working at my computer yesterday when I noticed that there was a lot of condensation on the outside of my water bottle. One thing lead to another, and I came up with this shot. There's a flashlight behind the bottle that has a lot of little tiny light bulbs in it. The water droplets took on the pattern of the bulbs. I turned it b&w, cropped it, and fixed a bad spot on the water bottle that was distracting. It's different...certainly in my daily gallery next to yesterday's vivid Halloween color shot! Work was just horrible yesterday. I hope I get to spend more time with my kids and my camera today. Thank you all for the feedback on yesterday's glass shot. You're a great inspiration to me to keep pushing to come up with something even more creative and pretty. Happy Friday! Maryann While I wasn't fully awake this morning, I put the caption under the keywords. Thankfully, I discovered my error and was able to copy the text instead of having to rewrite it.
FEB.9,2012 The Shadow challenge for Paula! It's an early post due to my work schedule. I've been working on these captures all week and I love some of neighborhood homes with tree shadows on them , but my "red" always wins out for me.
