011911 Pelican Landing I went on a fishing trip with my son Matthew yesterday and pelicans followed the boat back into the marina. I thought this picture was fitting today since our trip has come to an end and we are flying back home late this afternoon.
20.03.10 - Spring is Springing I actually took this on St Patrick's Day, but I've been working on it this evening in honour of the first day of Spring tomorrow. My last few Dailies have been a bit monochrome in different ways, so this is a good antidote to them too. There are a few more photos of these spectacular crocuses here; http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/Nature/THE-DAWBER-GARDEN/5370737_F9Haj#812707739_Qe7zv
The will to grow where the light is - Jun 1 2009 Flowers and plants can do amazing things... they'll try to reach the light no matter what! Hope you all had some sunlight today (I had way too much again... one never learns!) Hope to catch up with you guys and gals very soon!
2-05: Another from Monday evening. I was actually hurrying to get to another location and kinda liked the look here so I snapped off a few shots. I think it sorta looks like fall colors on the trees
Day 26 - A lioness photographed last spring in a wildlife park.
Sunday, February 20, 2011 "O is for ORNAMENT" "A true friend is someone who knows your faults and genuinely loves and accepts you anyway." ~ Unknown Author This is a beautiful, crystal Christmas tree ornament that was a gift from my best friend in 2009. I turned off the lights in the room to darken the background. Also, I intentionally did not position the camera to center the photo, because I had an "eye" for something different. Additionally, before I pushed the button to take the picture, I twisted the hanger to make the ornament spin - thus, the variations in color. Finally, as the French saying goes, "Voila!" 8/19/12 - Black bear; best viewed in the largest sizes. Photographed at Bear Country, SD. When I took this shot, there were probably about forty bears within the range of my camera. They were all moving around. It was a hot day; this one has just gotten himself wet down by a hose. I found the bears to be difficult to shoot, as their faces were so dark. I had to use the exposure compensation to lighten the face enough to pull out the detail there. Thanks for the comments on my daughter's cat. Much appreciated. Constructive criticism is always welcome.
5th year Pic 002 - July - 05 2013. Butterfly park Changi airport, - Singapore Pic by son Jay Critiques welcome!
3rd year Pic 313 - Aug 26 2011 Magpie Robin Khem Vilas, Ranthambhore More pictures at http://hershy.smugmug.com/Travel/Ranthambhore/RT-June-2011/17444320_Qps9C3 The magpie-robins or shamas (from shama, Hindi for C. malabaricus)[1] are medium-sized insectivorous birds (some also eat berries and other fruit) in the genera Copsychus and Trichixos. They were formerly in the thrush family Turdidae, but are more often now treated as part of the Old World flycatcher Muscicapidae. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magpie-robin
August 27, 2011-Caught another Promachus - Giant Robber Fly in the field by some power line towers. I was actually looking for some dragon flies but never saw any. The winds started picking up over night. So I am going to post early while I still have power. Stay safe everyone. (239:365)
5-24: We were trying to find a place called Butterfly Woods natural area and this very friendly horse ran over to the fence and let us pet her and feed her some grass. There were some cool patterns in the sky above so I decided to get a shot.
October 10, 2009 - "Majestic Yellowstone Morning " This two stitch image was shot our first full morning in Yellowstone. The mountain splendor was highlighted in the early morning light. Yellowstone is not a place for sleeping in! We were on the road at 730am each morning we were in the park.
August 28, 2010 update - "Clouds Over Grapevine" An 8x10 version of this photo won Best Of Show and 1st Place in the City Views category for the annual "What's Great In Grapevine" photo contest. There were 106 amateur entries in the juried contest. January 31, 2010 - "Last Train To Ft. Worth" This was shot last Sunday at the historic Grapevine, Texas railroad station. I was checking out a Lake Grapevine marina for photo ops but did not see anything I liked. On the way home I noticed there were not many cars parked at the railroad station, so took the opportunity to shoot. That makes two Sundays in a row that my alternate venue has worked out :) Tourist trains run from Grapvine to the historic Ft. Worth Stockyards. footnote to Ed's comment - was shot HDR
