June 23, 2010 These Mimosa blooms look so wispy and fragile, but the trees I think are very hardy. This is best viewed in the larger formats. Today was just another day of not much time to take shots, but I wanted to play some more with my new macro lens, so this is the best I could do for today in a very little bit of time that I had to "play". Thanks to all of you for your comments on my last couple of days of daily shots. They are much appreciated. I am just amazed at the talents of our Smug Mug family. I can get lost in the galleries for hours - if only I just had hours to spare. Have a great evening. Linda
Here I come! Well, you knew this was coming didn't ya? Lucy had to get her turn.
What's going on over there? This is another image from the photoshoot last week. I think I created six different versions of it. I'm not sure which one I prefer. If you'd like to check out the others, they are here: http://fotoeffects.smugmug.com/gallery/9105046_ZAAtf#606886760_Ya8PB Thanks for all the nice comments on the photo of the gloriosa daisy and the red bug. I was surprised with all the nice comments, as it just seemed like a pretty ordinary shot to me...although I did think the bug made it a bit different. I've spent the whole day processing shots from a wedding I shot last weekend and I'm not even half done. Oh, well, perseverance will allow me to get them done one day soon. Have a great day, everyone!
5-29-12. "Drying Off After the Storm". A Red Shouldered Hawk dries its wings after tropical storm Beryl. Gainesville, Florida. 2012.
SNOW tomorrow,,,that's what the weather forecast gives ,,,10cm ,,maybe,, This color caught my eye . It really stood out on this gloomy, overcast day! These two wreaths hang on the outside door of a kindergarten next door to my physio building. Maybe the project serves to entertain the little ones or this is what the teachers do while the kids paint eggs. An early post for March 30/12 With this cold change of temperature , I needed a cheerful find! Thank you Christine ! It's an honour to be in your "favorite art by others" gallery!
October 3, 2011 Blue-eyed Darner (Rhionaeschna multicolor) captured in flight at a local park - I fired off 2 shots, the first was a blur but I nailed this one. Best seen in the larger formats
11-22-10 Look... I asked nicely for some privacy and you just couldn't resist peeking on me you pervert !! I hope no one is offended by this interpretation of what the hawk is doing. EDIT: To answer Donna L's question, the bird bath is 19" across and holds 2 gal of water. No pp was done to enhance this gesture. It's 100% what the Coopers Hawk gave me.
1.3.09 - Phew that was close! I spent all afternoon on a photo shoot in the nearly town of Newark-on-Trent, as opposed to "Nork Noo Joyzee". Don't worry this is a private joke between Bill Pador and me :) I've got over 300 pics to process now, most of which I'm really pleased with, so it will probably take all night. It should be worth it, the light was great and I hope you like them when I post them. I took this when I was almost back home, how often does this happen? I've cropped it a bit, but otherwise it is straight out of camera.
"Don't call meeee fat." Aug.12/12 post Got some things at a yard sale and the lady put them in this shoe box. The moment the tissue was unfolded with the box on the floor , my kitty got into it. She is sitting in the middle of the floor so we are having to walk around her ,but the look we get when we approach is, "no joke." She will not be disturbed! She is getting a little chunky but eats her sister's food during her cat naps . Have you ever stopped at a yard sale and thought WOW , I think that is fine China from Windsor castle ! Well , you know what I mean. We got this shoe box full of lovely little things and we thought woohoo , " just like pirates with the treasure chest". Got home and e bay has the stuff on sale for 35 dollars US. Thought we had a teapot fit for Royalty ,or as Mrs. Bouquet would say " Oooh I'll serve it on my Royal Dolton!"! Oh well, It's pretty vintage china and looks nice on the shelf.
Birds joy for the remaining part of winter
Awesome light on my favorite spot.

A total eclipse of the full moon, which occurred began in Dec. 20, 2010 and finished on Dec. 21, 2010, the winter solstice. There have been many excellent shots of the lunar eclipse already posted on smugmug and quite a few terrific composites. Mine is certainly no better than those, but I'm going to post mine anyway. A case of "I photographed it", so "I'll post it," I guess. Since I stayed up so late last night photographing the eclipse, I'm going to post a bit early and go to bed. Thanks, as always for your support and comments. Only a few more days until Christmas. I hope everyone is nearly finished with their preparations. I'm getting there, too. Oh, I forgot to tell everyone what the last two kaleidoscopes were created from. The first was part of a closeup of a motorcycle and the second was part of a shot of the glass house at the Denver Botanic Garden.
March 9, 2015 This UK phone booth was discovered by Bill and I on one of our roaming vacations in Palo Pinto, Texas. What fascinated us about it was wondering how it got to Texas? Maybe it's not a real one? Who knows? But it was there in rural west Texas, and it made us scratch our heads. I'm headed out again today for another business trip to Birmingham, Alabama. I'll be there until Friday, then off again on Saturday for a 4 hour trip to Oklahoma to spend the weekend with my 6 grade school friends. I'll do my best to comment. Have a 'red-letter' day today my friends! Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com
