Wednesday, October 2, 2013 "FOUNTAINS OF BELLAGIO" "The knowledge of man is as the waters, some descending from above, and some springing from beneath; the one informed by the light of nature, the other inspired by divine revelation." ~ Francis Bacon SOOC, uncropped, 35mm lens There's always one......Dycasstudios requested to see the camera settings. While there, we decided to digress and drive to Las Vegas. Although I was first and last in Las Vegas in June (2006) with my best friend, it was my hubby's first trip to Vegas. Upon our arrival, we parked in the Bellagio's parking garage and headed straight for the water show that was just about to start. This is one of the first photos that I took. A refreshing addition to entertainment options, the Fountains of Bellagio were destined to romance the senses during the day and night. We viewed this thoughtfully interwoven complimentary Las Vegas show of water, music, and light. Each dynamic performance is unique in its expression and interpretation. It is truly the most amusing, amazing, ambitious, choreographically complex water feature ever conceived against the beautiful backdrop of Las Vegas's sky. I fell in love all over again with the stunning nature of this aquatic accomplishment while listening to a clever concert of opera, classical, and Broadway tunes. June 15, 2011-Catnap. Billy seems to be the king of catnaps. Seems his favorite spot is under the trees, in the shade, on top of the tractor cover. Who's better than him? (Day 166:365 @sharkbayte)
20.03.12 - Supermodel I actually went out yesterday looking for butterflies in the sunshine, but ended up taking almost 200 photos of squirrels! The dappled light was beautiful under the trees, but very difficult to deal with because of the huge contrast between light and dark. But by concentrating on the light patches I eventually got into a sort of flow and got the best squirrel shots I've ever taken. It helped that they seemed to be in a posing mood, rather than their usual skittish "now you see me now you don't"! The gallery is here; http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/Nature/HARTSHOLME-SQUIRRELS/22033254_X6cXPq#!i=1758123431&k=LF8GMwJ I uploaded the gallery very late last night, and by this morning this shot had already been commented on by several people on Dgrin, so I guess it isn't just my favourite one :)

May 30: Fishing during memorial weekend Big Creek Lake! Life is Good!
January 26,2013 This reminds me of a Punch and Judy show , or the curtain before a play , but it is a red painted, steel fence backing a little shed in a back yard . Looks like a potting shed, with flower pots and a few drying plants scattered about in between this chain link fence and the colorful wall. I shot a few captures, and was thinking I'd get some of those whimsical looking , artsy shots but this was the only one of clarity! Love the brightness in a cold Winter month. Thank you for putting me up in number one! Paul might be right about the naps , but they are actually "sleep ins" for as long as I want! Woohoo
08/23/11 - Flutterby On the way in from picking up the kids at school yesterday, I swung into the local produce stand, Porters, to pick up some onions and fresh yellow squash. I love having veggies so easily accessible. I also love having such great photo ops there too. There are 6 or more of these huge light orange/yellow butterfly bushes, and they are always covered in some kind of butterfly. Today, this bush had 3 swallowtails zooming all over it, and I spent several minutes snapping away. This is my favorite of the bunch although there were a few close seconds. http://fotomom.smugmug.com/Nature/August-2011/18330920_7pCmrW#1443260783_ZzC2dDs http://fotomom.smugmug.com/Nature/August-2011/18330920_7pCmrW#1443256037_FDRBBH8 http://fotomom.smugmug.com/Nature/August-2011/18330920_7pCmrW#1443261106_kcxFVnK The boys were pretty content...fresh lemonade with maraschino cherries and a slice of orange:-) Thanks for all your comments on my car show pics... June 22, 2011-This is a Paper Wasp, Polistes fuscatus (Fabricius, 1793). I believe I have the correct species as there are many color variations. Found him sitting on the fence post as I was checking the garden out. First time I had one sit long enough for me to take it's picture and without me getting chased off. (What that translates to is: I had the chair in reverse and took off like a scaredy-cat) (Day 173:365 @sharkbayte) thank you for all the wonderful comments on my Flesh Fly shot yesterday, I truly appreciate it. For those that asked the lens I used yesterday as well as today is my favorite, it hardly leaves my camera it's the canon "EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM MACRO"
July 13, 2011-These are two of the kittens from a few days ago. Their mother moved all of them to the neighbor's house. Well that night we had a lot of rain, the next morning I found all four of the kittens back in my yard, inside a huge planter that was on it's side and off the ground, they are protected from the rain and the sun. The mother cat just amazes me. Jasper my pup is not happy with the situation. (194:365) Thank you all so much for all the wonderful comments and response to my picture yesterday, it was overwhelming!
