ART - Sunflower Melt Down... Starting to Get Warm...         Link to Photo Without Frame         Thank You for Making this Daily Photo the #1 Pick on 05/24/2013
Warm Grass, Lake Sam Rayburn TX I love the way that a sunset can light up a foreground! This glowing grass caught my eye as I was looking for a new foreground composition that included the reflection pool. We hope to get back to the lake this weekend and maybe even today! This is a three exposure HDR. I haven’t made many HDR photos lately, but still find it to be a handy technique when I have to shoot into the sun without any filters. The only filter used here is the circular polarizer. 06/28/11 - Enter If You Dare Just a house long since abandoned and for sale near Albemarle, NC on Hwy. 52. I've also been studying this spot for the past several trips to/from dad's house trying to decide if I should stop and take pics or not. Sunday was the day. I was attracted to the peeling paint and the view through a view of the glass on this porch area. A wider view processed similarly showing the whole porch area: http://fotomom.smugmug.com/Inspirations/Inspirations/10386893_s5msk#1358623461_tPQJfk6 No change with my dad... Thanks for all your comments on my glowing tree from yesterday. HAGD, Maryann
What IS that? This little girl was the flower girl at a recent wedding shoot and I noticed that she was looking at the light coming in from a stained glass window onto her hand. She was absolutely fascinated! Thanks so much for the many nice comments on my latest balloon festival picture. These festivals do provide so many great photo ops. It really made my day to see so many of you liking my image. I love to imagine all of us SmugMuggers, going about our days with our cameras at hand, always on the lookout for a great shot. I see us at work with our cameras, sitting in the car with them on our laps, with us in restaurants and bars, and everywhere we go. We can be found lying on the ground, perched on fences, teetering on ladders, wading in streams. We are fearless; we are strong; we are indomitable; we are smugmuggers! Enough, already! Have a great day!
7/27/12 - Washington on Mt. Rushmore. Mt. Rushmore is photographed so often and the shots tend to look very similar, so I was searching for a way to capture a more unique image. This was looking up through a slot in two huge rock formations. Unfortunately, you don't get a good view of the entire carving. I think the bit of Lincoln that shows is rather distracting but decided not to cut it out. Thanks for all the comments on my shot of the burro. I thought he was cute, too. We went back to the Grand Tetons today and had much nicer weather conditions for shooting, so I hope I got some good pics. Hope your day is good!
"The Other Side" By Michael Pyle "We are bonded, living and departed, by the world we have all shared, and will be defined by the manner in which we contributed to it". Jon Knight
February 14, 2011 "Helping hand" - this little one was trapped in our shed flying straight up to the ceiling until it was exhausted. We picked it up and gave it nourishment and away it flew. It was one of those moments in life that made you feel great all over! Thanks for all of the wonderful comments! Life continued on for this little one and we were grateful to be a part of his recovery.
February 2, 2011-Ninja Cat. Allison has started sitting on this tree limb (when she isn't sleeping) to get a better vantage point for catching birds. Day 33 @sharkbayte Thanks for all the comments on my picture and well wishes at the doctors. I'll be back to the doctors next week again for more tests. Oh the fun never ends! LOL!
Colorful Big Red, Columbia MO Got out to take some new photos today and this was the best one. Big Red loves our photo walks since he gets to do his own thing off the leash. But at some point I always sit down and wait for him to come around and pose for me. John A. Stewart park is still full of color, even if most of it is on the ground. Update: This photo was taken with the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4. It's the first lens I bought for my camera and I really like it , I use it a lot, and it's not too expensive. Hello Everybody, you all have been very kind to me recently with your comments and I can't thank you enough. I've spent the last couple of days in NY State and took this image in the Allegheny State Park, Red house lake. Allegany State Park is a state park in western New York State, located in Cattaraugus County just north of Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania. The park is divided into two sections: The Red House Area and the Quaker Run Area. It lies within the Allegheny Highlands forests ecoregion.
Hanging in the wind - Aug 25 2010 Sorry, another bug shot... missed shooting macro so much that I dusted off the old Nikkor 80mm lens and took of direction bugs. It's a nice lens, but it's a full manual lens... with ever changing light... hard and unexpected winds... a real 'pleasure' to take bug shots. Darn did I miss that 60mm full auto lens :-) But I really like this shot because of the colors. This damselfly had a hard time hanging on... on the bright side I had all the time to take shots, it wasn't going anywhere... but the wind and the clouds ruined 98 of the 100 shots I took of it ;-)
I'm just a little girl... - Mar 14 2009 I'm a bit into sepia I guess... but I think the shot is far more interesting like this. Fender did well yesterday evening, so we can start doing trials! Yes!!
Frozen by Padonna - Jan 10 2009 While shooting all kinds of frozen things (there's not much more to shoot now) this back lit spider web was screaming for attention. Natures simplicity can be so beautiful...
