Hanging in the wind - Aug 25 2010 Sorry, another bug shot... missed shooting macro so much that I dusted off the old Nikkor 80mm lens and took of direction bugs. It's a nice lens, but it's a full manual lens... with ever changing light... hard and unexpected winds... a real 'pleasure' to take bug shots. Darn did I miss that 60mm full auto lens :-) But I really like this shot because of the colors. This damselfly had a hard time hanging on... on the bright side I had all the time to take shots, it wasn't going anywhere... but the wind and the clouds ruined 98 of the 100 shots I took of it ;-)
I'm just a little girl... - Mar 14 2009 I'm a bit into sepia I guess... but I think the shot is far more interesting like this. Fender did well yesterday evening, so we can start doing trials! Yes!!
Frozen by Padonna - Jan 10 2009 While shooting all kinds of frozen things (there's not much more to shoot now) this back lit spider web was screaming for attention. Natures simplicity can be so beautiful...

Sunday, June 17, 2012 "NECKTIES" "Neckties satisfy modern man's desire to dress in art." ~ Harry Anderson "Fathers are the biggest source of strength for a child. The innocent eyes of a child perceive father as the all-powerful, most knowledge, truly affectionate and the most important person in the family. For daughters, fathers are the first men they adore and fall in love with. While for sons, their fathers are the strongest person they know and someone they aspire to emulate. Even for the grownups, fathers are someone whom they look up to for the most experienced and honest advice that is always in the best of our interest. For this great figure in our life that we know as father - it becomes our utmost duty to pay our humblest tribute on the occasion of Father's Day." ~ Reprinted text from here: http://www.fathersdaycelebration.com/tribute-to-father.html Happy Father's Day to biological and surrogate (one who takes the place of another) fathers, father-figures, Godfathers, and mentors - both natural and spiritual. SPEAKING OF SPORTS: Miami Heat will host Oklahoma City Thunder in game 3 of the NBA Finals tonight. The series is now 1 - 1. Go "young guns" of OKC! I'm appreciative of your comments on yesterday's "Cherry Blossoms" (remix) photo. Be blessed and share the rest! ***#1 photo of the day and all time*** (photo taken 4/4/2012)

Hello Everybody, you all have been very kind to me recently with your comments and I can't thank you enough. I've spent the last couple of days in NY State and took this image in the Allegheny State Park, Red house lake. Allegany State Park is a state park in western New York State, located in Cattaraugus County just north of Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania. The park is divided into two sections: The Red House Area and the Quaker Run Area. It lies within the Allegheny Highlands forests ecoregion.

Glamor Girls - Mar 17 2009 So reluctant the girl from yesterday was... so eager these girls were to get their picture taken. They were making dance moves in the street and when they saw me shooting pictures of them... they wanted to pose.
September 3, 2010 I don't know what this cute little bug is - but it caught my eye today on the weeds near my house. I loved his big, black eyes. I hope you enjoy too. There's no crop or post editing on this one - just got lucky. Check it out in X2 - it's pretty cool. Have a wonderful evening & a great Labor Day weekend Smug Muggers. We are headed to another car show tomorrow, but this one also includes vintage WWII airplanes - so it should be fun & provide some great photo ops. Sunday is my daughter's 34th birthday, Gee that makes me feel old! LOL - but she's a wonderful daughter, so Mom is so proud. We will have my daughter (Chenoa - American Indian name that means White Dove of Peace). her husband & two girls, Bill's children and grandchildren mid afternoon on Sunday. We'll have a great time grilling hamburgers to celebrate Chenoa's birthday & Labor Day. When Chenoa was a littl girl, she always thought that the big Labor Day Weekend Celebrations - were all about her & her birthday. That made me smile. Many years later, she figured it out & just shares her birthday with the country. :))! Between Bill & I we have 7 grandchildren ranging in age from 16 years old to 4 months old. So Sunday's celebration will be loads of fun - count the parents, grandparents, kids & grandkids - we'll have 15 people for dogs & burgers on Sunday!!! I'm looking so very forward to it. Then on Monday, Bill & I will be taking our cars to another car show in Burleson, TX. So next week - watch for lots of vintage car shots. Love the Smug Mug community & all your fabulous photos. Have a great holiday weekend!! Best, Linda
01/30/11 - Swaying in the Breeze I took this shot at Crowder Park's wetland area yesterday. It was very windy and very sunny. The bokeh is the water behind the ornamental grass moving in the wind. I took as many shots as the boys would tolerate and thought this one was best. I was like a kid in a candy store with the light dancing around the lens. Some frames the wind blew the grass right out of the frame! Picasa Lucky adjustment and square crop. This was over at Lake Wheeler a bit later: http://fotomom.smugmug.com/Nature/January-2011/15307871_7ekG3#1171580836_ivuFo The water just would not stop glistening yesterday:-) We hit 3 parks total meeting up with friends at the last park for some more fun. Would have felt warm if the wind hadn't been blowing so bad. Favorite kid shot of the day: http://fotomom.smugmug.com/Nature/January-2011/15307871_7ekG3#1171565216_xnHPr That's Joey and his new made friend Georgie on the Good Ship Crowder:-) I did more sitting on the sidelines yesterday than I wanted, but it was a good day for the kids. The fever was gone most of the day but seemed back at bedtime again:-( Couldn't be that I over did it. Not me! So far today I feel OK. Dogs just won't ever let me sleep in. In another life Sugar and Honey must have been roosters. HAGD, Maryann
3rd year Pic 042 - Sep 02 2010 Splash! Dhobi Ghat B&W is here but I feel the splash of colour looks better: http://hershy.smugmug.com/Photography/Mumbai-my-city/Dhobi-ghat-cuffe-Parade/10119943_4urML#986119413_no6kb-A-LB THANK YOU all for your comments on yesterday's pic of the man's portrait. I am off this evening for the weekend, going to Udaipur in Rajashtan and may not be able to keep up with postings or comments till Tuesday. Have a nice weekend!

Victoria Memorial Sunrise, Kolkata India I found this photo when I was going through my Victoria Memorial photos for an upcoming blog post on my adventure photographing it. I have shared a few HDR photos of Victoria Memorial in the past, but this is the first single exposure I have shared. You can see a similar HDR version of this photo here: http://smu.gs/AsXi97 WHAT DO YOU THINK? WHICH DO YOU PREFER? (I don't think this will be much of a contest ;) I'm amazed at how quickly my processing techniques evolve. I always think my most newly processed photos look the best, and any time I re-process something I usually like the new version better than the old. In some ways processing is similar to writing, and the first version you make is just a first draft, which gets better and better with each revision. CAN YOU SPOT THE SUN IN THIS SUNRISE? Hanging in the wind - Aug 25 2010

Sorry, another bug shot... missed shooting macro so much that I dusted off the old Nikkor 80mm lens and took of direction bugs. It's a nice lens, but it's a full manual lens... with ever changing light... hard and unexpected winds... a real 'pleasure' to take bug shots. Darn did I miss that 60mm full auto lens :-)
But I really like this shot because of the colors. This damselfly had a hard time hanging on... on the bright side I had all the time to take shots, it wasn't going anywhere... but the wind and the clouds ruined 98 of the 100 shots I took of it ;-)
