another shot where i was playing with settings trying to figure this digital stuff out

for those of you who were relieved that i used the iris instead of the laundry you can see the shots i've shot in the laundry (not just yesterday) and decide for yourself if laundry rooms aren't interesting http://dedmanshootn.smugmug.com/gallery/5046709_9ue4F#274874550_mDvkH

Morning catch.

Thanks for all your prayers, they seem to be working because my mom seemed a little better yesterday. She smiled allot although I think she's very scared.

I got up early yesterday before visiting hours so I could shoot a little. It is certainly a good release. Or after hours I see if anything is out and about.

The nurses have been so super to her. When I can't visit with her because of visiting hours I'll call and talk to the nurses to check on her. They are so good about going and telling her everything. She is in a sort of icu. They call it a step down.

ps. I told her how everyone is praying for her and she had tears in her eyes.

They are having a hard time with her bp right now so keep your fingers crossed.

DailyPhotos > popular all-time > 31.7.08 - Six Months on The Dailies, Yippeeeeee, doesn't time fly when you're having fun :)

This is another shot from last night, partly because it has been raining most of the day, and partly because I liked the feel of the image but couldn't decide what to do with it until earlier this evening. Apologies if the frames and text are becoming too predictable, please indulge me, it is my 6 month anniversary after all :)

Dusk really is my favourite time of day, the light is so atmospheric, and it gives so many photographic opportunities. I love it when there is still some colour in the sky, the lights are all coming on, and long exposures give rich colours and show movement in this ghostly way.

I also like the way that hardly any of the buildings in this view are straight in any plane. The building on the right isn't even level within itself. But bizarrely, the object that is most out of the perpendicular is the brand new tourist sign :)

DailyPhotos > popular all-time > 10.2.08 - Fire in the Sky. Blame Lady Kate for this one! Another beautiful day here in the UK, and lots of photo opportunities. I thought long and hard about using this one, especially as it is from the same place as yesterday's DP, but couldn't resist it in the end. I took loads of shots to try and capture this view. It was really difficult getting any sort of balance between the foreground and the incredible sky. I ended up quite a long way away, almost laying on my stomach at 200mm. People couldn't work out what I was trying to photograph, until I invited them to "lay down here with me"! I got a few funny looks, but eventually the assembled throng realised what I was doing!
DailyPhotos > popular all-time > Post 187 - 6/18/08 Muahh...

Steve and I took a walk this evening as the sun was setting. this is a little grainy, but it was so sweet to see the deer nearby. I know they are a nuisance to many, but I so enjoy seeing them when we are out. After some of the other more amorous posts I've seen here lately, I thought this was a little more on the G-rating side!
