Bayview Sunrise, Bayview TX

I think it's a good thing that I'm not going to be living this close to the bay when we move TX, otherwise I'd probably spend all my time on the docks. I really love seascape photography when I get a chance to do it. I really like how the long exposure effect smoothes out the water and of course the sunrise reflection.

This is a two exposure HDR and the exposure times are 8 and 15 seconds. I use Photomatix Pro, version 4.1.3, but thanks to Art's question yesterday have now updated to 4.2.3. In Photomatix I use tonemapping. See my post yesterday for more info an links to Trey's HDR tutorial. Yesterday I also provided links to a new lighting show with Joel Grimes on Framed Network called Lit up, check out episode seven. Lastly, Creative Live is broadcasting live and FREE all weekend. The workshop is titled "Sales Sales Sales," taught by photo business guru Tamara Lackey. I have seen Tamara's previous workshops on Creative Live and she really knows business. Creative Live broadcasts replays all night long so you have two chances (or three if you stay up really late) to catch it.

I have been trying to get an image of the illusive Moonbow for a long time. This evening on the way back from the Volcano there it was!! It was cold, windy and raining but I toughed it out. After getting some images the CF card failed and all the pictures were gone. Undaunted I dug into my camera bag and pulled another card! I had just enough time to get two pictures off before it dissapeared!!! Here is what I got!!!!

Camera and Settings

Canon 1Ds Mark III with a Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L and a Manfrotto Carbon Fiber Tripod and Manfrotto Midi Ball Head.

Image was taken at ISO 1600 at f/2.8 for 30 seconds in RAW

Processed in Lightroom 3 and CS5

A few weeks ago I finally bought a 400mm lens for wildlife shots. Haven't used it too much for birds or animals so I thought I would try it on flowers. This was taken off the deck which is a few feet higher than the tree.
Delicate Swan - Sep 23 2010

She (he?) was all alone...
Did some (LOL) PP on this shot to make a kinda delicate picture.
Day 37 - Love

Thank you for all the great comments. I was quite nervous taking this set of flower photos for a wedding catalog because the flowers were to be used for a wedding the next morning. The client was rushing me in worries that the flowers being out of the refrigerator too long and its losing freshness. It was my first job shooting flowers commercially and that was quite an experience, to say the least.
An early October snowstorm in Colorado Springs; best viewed in the larger sizes. I think it is always challenging to try to capture the actual snow falling so that it looks natural. In the largest sizes, you can really see the snow falling, so I was pleased with this.

I sure appreciated your comments on my shot of the snow at the hospital parking lot. This community is always so encouraging.

Hope you had a good weekend!

28.04.10 - Kaleidoscope

When I walk into town I try to plan my route around photo opportunities, indeed I do the same if I drive in too. But this afternoon I was on foot, and on the way home I took a detour through the Arboretum to see what was new. As it happened there were plenty of new flowers in bloom, which gave me the opportunity to grovel around on my stomach to see what outrageous bokeh I could manage to get!

Apologies for any burned out retinas that might be caused by this riot of colour. If you want to see a few more subtle shots go here;
