GERBERA DAISY

Thanks to Sara Finton, I learned how to do the circular distortions yesterday. I was like a little kid experimenting with many of my images. I even created an abstract gallery this was such fun! This is a half distortion. I thought it was more interesting than the finished product and posted this one for today.

Here's the link to the complete circle...plus a few others...

DailyPhotos > popular today > Post 214 7/24/08 My new ID!!!

It is very hot and HUMID these days as you very well know if you are anywhere except ARIZONA... I keep seeing my ID with that blown dry STRAIGHT hair and tell myself...no way does that look like me lately. I gave up and don't even use the hairdryer anymore.

Yesterday afternoon the electricity went out with a storm, there was a nice light coming in from the bedroom window, I didn't have much else to do, sooo.... I set up the tripod, a fairly shallow dof and with my XT and that wonderful remote release I gave myself a photo shoot. It was fun, but a little embarrassing when I think about it. I thought about Shelly and Bill Pador's recent SP's, though and knew I could tough it out! Also the other ID pic had been taken by someone else...I felt this should be an SP! Nice to be able to pick your own shot and do a little PP...A warm glow does wonders to 'soften' the years a little!
DailyPhotos > popular today > 23.7.08 - A beautiful end to a mad day! This is taken from the University Campus, with most students away for the Summer. The Shed is the pub with the spectacular balcony view.

I didn't get chance to comment on the Dailies yesterday because I was out for about 14 hours. It was a very hot day (for the UK), and by the evening I was pretty washed out. I ended up in town and took nearly 100 photos of the sunset, and various dusk shots around the Uni, Brayford Pool and along the river. I haven't had time to process them all yet, but none of them really stood out as much as I'd hoped, so I've made a quick decision and gone for this one as my Daily. I love this time of day for photography.

One thing did really annoy me though, when I was accosted by a security guard at the Uni and told that I couldn't take photos without permission! Yep, that old chestnut again. Luckily he was very good about it, I would say that he realised it was a stupid rule, and he didn't stop me, just said it was "for future reference". But it did spoil the moment a bit.

Has the appearance of a ribbed and spiny oversized green pumpkin...
This one has already bloomed. Those things on the top center were where the blooms were. If I remember right they are a yellow when in bloom. The yellow blooms in the picture are some other small plant.

got down to do laundry today so snuck over and nabbed a snap of the neighbor's hydrangea while it was cycling. hydrangea flowers look so odd but i've always loved them. very bummed out; was going to be down visitng sis and b-i-l and also had permission to shoot the 'tour de peaks" bicycling event but just too weak from this ##$%^#% CRUD!! such is life but there's a very good chance i'd've had some paying photos plus the fun of going with family. i'm not working yet again today but friday i'm going in if a have to drag myself down the street with my lips! can tell i'm finally getting better because actually have the enrgy to be frustrated. thanks yet again for all the kind thoughts words and prayers, forgot to mention the other day DOD says same. he's hanging in and still in good spirits. it helps that he gets plenty of calls and visitors. hope this finds you and those you love doing as well as can possibly be. i'm putting the tour de peaks link in case anyone is interested.

When out if no where this little fella popped in front of my camera.
Imagine my surprise!
Have a wonderful day everybody!
p.s. no gnomes were hurt during this photo-shoot session!
