DailyPhotos > popular today > "Autumn Is Here"
Well after yesterdays lack of creativity & plain old energy I felt MUCH better today after sleeping in until 1:30pm this afternoon. I woke up feeling refreshed but got off to a slow start. After a cup of Joe, my medication & a few minutes of stretching I was ready to go for day 226. After speaking to John (300m) on the phone I headed out to capture the quickly turning colors around town.

To start off, I didn't have to go far just by walking across the street from my house where the wood line was scattered with multi-colored trees & bushes for as far as you could see. Part of my trip brought me back to one of my favorite locales and THE LAKE HOUSE. I shot this wide angle from the west shoreline with the sun behind me blazing down on the far shore & mountainside which lit up like the Vegas strip at midnight as you can see. I was thrilled to see how cool the shadows & reflections from the shore glazed into the water reflecting not only the colors but a cool right angle in the shape of a 'V' & water so clear you could see the bottom. Without a cloud in the sky and the most PERFECT conditions for shooting I couldn't ask for a better day of relaxing & productive color chasing. This image has very little post with only being hit with a very slight crop & contrast adjustment and that's all folks, not even any sharpening was needed to show the mountainside scattered with the lovely colors of Autumn!

* To see the entire shoot from today, you can visit my "Brand New" FALL/AUTUMN COLORS 2008 Gallery It is FILLED with crazy colorful images that is sure to please every colorful landscape enthusiast !

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and for all my American brothers & sisters enjoy your 3 day weekend compliments of Christopher Columbus!

"Tile Seawall Art Project"
The wall along the beachfront sidewalk in Capitola Village.
The tiles were purchased by individuals for $35.00 ea. as a fundraiser for Capitola.
The individuals then handpainted their creation of choice; to be applied as the wallfront.
GREAT idea!!

There is MUCH more tile covered wallspace than shows in this photo. I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent
checking out this wonderful art project!

Make sure to check out a close-up look at some of the tiles in my Contender gallery.

"What could be better after a long day in the water than to come ashore and be welcomed back to land by local art glistening in the sun? Where the ocean meets the sand is an innately striking sight just the way it is, but to make things all the more eye-catching, the seawall in Capitola has been lined with a mosaic of brightly colored, handcrafted tiles. The public reception this Sunday celebrates the completion of this latest project from the Capitola Art & Cultural Commission. With 1100 artists contributing symbols that reflect the theme “Capitola Memories: Sand, Sun & Sea,” the community effort is proof that art doesn’t just flourish throughout our county, it lines our shores."

The temperature hit the mid 70s yesterday afternoon, hard to believe it is October in the UK, the shorts even came back out of hibernation Karina :)

This was taken at Swanholme Lakes, a rather different SP that just appeared out of nowhere, but I quite like it. I spent a lot of the day in Hartsholme Park, which is just beyond the trees on the far side of the lake. I was taking some still photos for this wonderful project; http://www.theladyofshalott.co.uk/index.html I had bumped into them by accident a few weeks ago, and was invited to take some stills, but understandably I can't release any of my images until after the film is released next May. It is a really exciting project, their attention to detail is incredible, and next May can't come fast enough.

While I was there I took some general shots of the park, including some spectacular colours and reflections, and these are in a new gallery here; http://johnloguk.smugmug.com/gallery/6221276_jhJTP#392490489_kvt5q

I hardly had any chance to get on the Dailies again yesterday, but I'll try to catch up with everyone's photos when I get chance. Is it really Monday again already :(
