DailyPhotos > popular today > 6.9.08 - Comfort Food :)

I have just had the most fantastic, but exhausting day, and I'm about to settle down infront of the TV with my supply of Earl Grey tea and organic Aussie Liquorice to watch "King Kong". What a way to spend Saturday night!

I was up before 6am to go to a business conference in Birmingham. It rained all day again, and hasn't stopped at nearly 9pm, but today I don't care. The conference was great. Four of our team shared a car and laughed ourselves stupid from start to finish, that is probably why I'm so tired. So this very silly photo is for you guys; Sue, Clare and Mike, today was a blast.

There is also something I would like to share with everyone else though as I don't think this photo really warrants much attention. One of the speakers today was a guy called Paul McGee. He was one of the funniest and most interesting speakers I've ever heard. Many motivational speakers can be a bit patronising, some are boring, some are on another planet, but Paul was spot on, superb. Here is a link to his website, and if you have the time please follow the links to a video clip of him in action (not the TV interview). There is a joke about a minute in which I think the Smuggy Ladies might appreciate, it brought the house down today. Right, now I'm off to vegetate with my tea and liquorice, catch you all tomorrow :)

got down to do laundry today so snuck over and nabbed a snap of the neighbor's hydrangea while it was cycling. hydrangea flowers look so odd but i've always loved them. very bummed out; was going to be down visitng sis and b-i-l and also had permission to shoot the 'tour de peaks" bicycling event but just too weak from this ##$%^#% CRUD!! such is life but there's a very good chance i'd've had some paying photos plus the fun of going with family. i'm not working yet again today but friday i'm going in if a have to drag myself down the street with my lips! can tell i'm finally getting better because actually have the enrgy to be frustrated. thanks yet again for all the kind thoughts words and prayers, forgot to mention the other day DOD says same. he's hanging in and still in good spirits. it helps that he gets plenty of calls and visitors. hope this finds you and those you love doing as well as can possibly be. i'm putting the tour de peaks link in case anyone is interested.

had lovely rain showers for the past couple days. i like to walk in the rain and thought this hollyhock bud perfect subject for my daily. used the on camera flash for set very low for fill. i sure did enjoy the olympics. watched quite a bit live when i was awake in the middle of the night. the dust on the sensor is still annoyingly there, should've magically cleaned itself by now shouldn't it ;-) just one more necessary thing i've been letting slip. shall try to get on it this week
DailyPhotos > popular today > Post 241 9/2/08 Nuestra amiga Lucia!

We have known this little girl since before she was born...4 years ago. We had a great afternoon with her and her family and other friends of ours in a distant suburb of Buenos Aires. I had a great opportunity to take lots of shots of the children, children with parents and grandparents and our group together. Actually the group shot with me and Steve that you will eventually be able to see was set up by me, but a young woman near us was kind enough to take the pictures. I hadn't brought my tripod with me...( Shame I forgot that I still had that darned new polarizing filter on and couldn't figure out why I was having to boost the ISO so much..I always forget something!!!)

We are really enjoying ourselves as many of you have commented on...I do apologize that I am not taking any time to comment. I just know if I get started, it will be hard to stop so I will have to wait until I get home. I will say that I have glanced at some of the pics each day and you all are the best..so creative and skilled. Your photography has been great inspiration to me and motivation to do better. Thanks for your continued comments and time to look at my photos even though I am not giving back! Besos!

1000+ year old sitka spruce and DOD

in memoriam rollin cooke walton, Dear Old Dad, gone to be with the Lord he loved 08/06/08

DOD always tried to encourage and help everyone. his love and compassion were a blessing to people beyond count. he was always ready with a helping hand and encouraging word. he had his faults, as do we all, but always took responsibility for his actions and tried to make amends if he had wronged. beloved by many, he will be sorely missed. DOD passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends who sang him some favorite hymns as he slipped from the bonds of this earth. gone but never forgotten r.i.p. DOD

this picture was shot at the end of september 2007 on the last, of many, trips that DOD and i took together. it is one of my faves of him. there have been many great men throughout history but i can think of no one i'd be prouder to call father. enlarge for best viewing and please click a thumbs up; i'd like this to be number one of the most popular pics of mine as a small tribute to a fine man

there were three large (four feet across at least) bunches of these in planters by the bus stop i was waiting at. with the nice bright sun on them they looked so pretty and i'm a sucker for red, white and blue so managed to shoot about a dozen snaps before the bus arrived. good thing i did as this was the only one that turned out half well (it was quite windy as well as sunny) and was the last one i shot. have a great week-end y'all

this was shot one hour after (i was on my way back up the hill after buying groceries and noticed the sun highlighting it and just HAD to shoot again) the flash shot in number one. i just had to post two as the differences between the flash and natural light are quite amazing i think
