Visited the O'Shaughnessy Winery in the Napa Valley today (c'mon, we had to). We've been fans of their delicious wines for years, and not just because of the name--we even served their wine at my son's wedding last month. The winery is beautiful, and their cave is carved into the hillside, in the shape of an O. Cool place.

The bee made the mistake of trying to get on the same flower as the praying mantis. Here the praying mantis had the bee...but in the end the bee won!!

Another shot from yesterday... didn't get any good shots at the dog show and agility trial today. Wasn't such a great idea to go... but we can be so stubbern, don't we.

Thank you for all the well wishes, but I'm still not and the end of the tunnel. Being diagnosed with Horton's disease (cluster headaches) it's now searching for a treatment to prevent the 2 to 4 attacks a day. Started for the third time a different treatment today... crossing my fingers that this one brings some relief after about 40 days of migraine horror.
DailyPhotos > popular today > November 15, 2009 - "Dusk At Murdochs Breezeway"

Murdochs on the Galveston Island was destroyed by Hurricane Ike. The buildings have been completely rebuilt. The structure consists of a large souvenir shop and a restaurant. The souvenir side just recently opened and I could still smell the fresh paint.

Excerpts From

http://www.galveston.com/murdochsbathhouse/
Murdoch’s Bathhouse is one of Galveston’s most historic locations. Originally built in the late 1800’s, the wood structure was constructed directly on the sand. Without the protection of a Seawall , the 1900 storm destroyed the bathhouse. Although the structure was rebuilt in 1901, the storms of 1909 and 1915 were so violent, that reconstruction was required after each.
..........In 1910, Mr. William J. Guyette Sr. opened Guyette Gift Shop inside Murdoch’s. He knew that with so many visitors coming to Galveston Island, a shop that offered these visitors souvenirs, shells and trinkets, would be a great idea.
.........In 2005, the family connected the existing piers with a breezeway and porch overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Since the State of Texas, will not allow anymore piers to be built, it stands on some of the original piling that once held Murdoch's Bathhouse.
........In 2008, Hurricane Ike destroyed Murdochs, and in 2009, miraculously, a brand new, sparkling Murdochs returned in its place.

Series: The Cape of All Things

VIEW IN X2

I particularly enjoyed this shot, from yesterdays visit to the airport. Hand held, no editing whatsoever, auto conversation from RAW. The individual stair elements on the escalators are boxed in a thick yellow border, a safety device, I think, but, poof, gone !! This escalator appears to be working!

Day 257, Sunday, November 15

A lone tree in the Wetlands.
I enhanced the color just a little.
Tomorrow is B&W Monday.... with a twist,
