DailyPhotos > popular today > salute 'the chief'
master sargeant e8, charles anway, us army ret.
11/11/09

probably only known as 'chief' by me - we both played baseball, coached middle school softball together, and still love to watch baseball games and baseball movies, we both grew up loving movies and also managed a video store together so our conversations are often salted with movie references - as its something of an inside joke but also respect. he served three and a half years in viet nam including acting as a forward radio control for a heavily hit helicopter company in the aborted invasion of laos, see the book 'into laos' if interested in history, and served well in many other units and places also over his two decade career. i'm grateful to him and all those who serve with honor. he's a good man to have on your side and my first choice for a daily for this veteran's day. (shot this as we ate lunch a while ago, the shirt was from a recent trip to south dakota with his sis)

DailyPhotos > popular today > Jurrasic Parc? - Nov 10 2009

Confined to the house... no inspiration... no interest... browsed longtime through my available shots. Finally treated a shot made during our trip in Austria last september. Didn't feel like color... prefer the dark side of Jurassic Park but my sweet wife wanted colors!!! Well you can see the color version here: http://agilitypics.smugmug.com/Daily-shot/They-didnt-make-the-dailys/6276185_6CSsv/1/709409810_hXHa7
DailyPhotos > popular today > November 11, 2009 - "Maginot Line"

The ouvrage of Hackenberg is the largest series of fortifications on the Maginot Line in Northeast France. Located at the western end of the Boulay fortified sector, it straddles the wooded ridge of the Hackenberg, the highest point of the area from which it gets its name.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Maginot Line (IPA: [maʒi'noː], French: Ligne Maginot), named after French Minister of Defense André Maginot, was a line of concrete fortifications, tank obstacles, artillery casemates, machine gun posts, and other defenses, which France constructed along its borders with Germany and Italy, in the light of experience from World War I, and in the run-up to World War II. Generally the term describes either the entire system or just the defenses facing Germany, while the Alpine Line is used for the Franco-Italian defenses.
DailyPhotos > popular today > 11.11.09 = I've been so busy these past few weeks that I haven't had time to post. Well, today, Veterans Day, I'm not too busy to say Thank You to all our Veterans. Thank you for service and all the sacrifices you have made in the fight for freedom around the world. It is through your spirit that I am honored and proud to call myself and American!
