DailyPhotos > popular today > 12/2. Royal National Park in Australia at Sunset. I captured this during my fantastic business trip to Australia where I managed to get out to take a few pictures as well. This was one of my FAVORITE locations! One of my friends, Matt, who lives in Sydney took me out there. It rained on us, was hot and sunny and then the sunset was just fantastic! I couldn't have asked for anything more. I was definitely having a little TOO much fun as I kept shooting past sun down... and the tide kept coming UP!! We made it back around cove without any problems! I just finished processing this today for my first time -- let me know what you think.

In a small lake just a few minutes from our home, we found this large flock of egrets. There where egrets in the water, in the trees.......everywhere.

Patti took this shot with her telephoto, and we were both amazed at the strange results. Dozens of egrets..... and their reflections. Thousands of dying lily pads ...and their reflections. Hundreds of trees ...and their reflections....and their shadows. My first reaction when I saw this shot was, gosh Patti, what is that stuff all over your lens?

Pretty weird results and not exactly what we were hoping for.

Here is a major photoshop rework of this image, it looks better I think although many of the egrets are erased, but most of the nasty looking dead lily pads are gone as well.:

Well, I know some of you have had enough snow already, but I'll be lucky if I see a few flakes just south and east of Raleigh, NC so this is definitely a wish of mine especially with two little boys and an unused sled just rearing to go.

I spent a lot of time on this one...much more time than the nutcracker, and it just didn't turn out how I'd hoped. Mostly the lack of definition in the shovel around the words bothers me I guess. At any point, it is what it is.

Here's a version with the complete duo of fiber optic snowmen:

The guy on the right always glows darker/blue, and I wasn't sure I liked that so shot him out of the one I used for the daily. If you go to the link you can see a set-up shot although it is not interesting today I don't think. I did have some lights under the snowmen, but I don't think they helped or hurt. Black foamboard and a flashlight again to help make the words show up better.

The more interesting part of this picture to me is the background. I took that picture last December at a mall. They were projecting snowflakes onto the ceiling with some sort of fancy flashlight. I took a picture of that, but it was almost white. However, using Picasa, I tinted it and WOW. I can make it cany color I like:-) What I did in this case was take 4 copies of the same tinted picture and then use the Picasa collage feature to turn them into one picture. I did some rotating and mirroring of the various copies before kicking of the collage. That gave me more flakes along the border which I wanted. Just a slight bit of seem blending after the collage was built. Anyway...playing with Picasa and PSE is fun if not maddening sometimes.

Thank you for your comments on the nutcracker:-)

Still coughing over here. Will it ever really go away?!?

Late note: Because the shovel was driving me nuts, and thanks to Art's inspiration:

I didn't change the color, but I did try again to isolate the shovel (not easy) and then fool with the edges.

HAGD,
Maryann
