DailyPhotos > popular today > Megastructure Series: The Cape of all things View in X2 HAND HELD The following from www.fifa.com, edited by me to update and shorten: Cape Town has built a new stadium for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. The stadium is in the suburb of Green Point, about 5 minutes from the city centre and nestled beneath Signal Hill and Table Mountain. Fans will be a stone's throw from the ocean and the mountains of Cape Town will be the backdrop for matches. The location is ideal as it is a short walk from the transportation hub of the city. Upon completion, the stadium will have a gross seating capacity of 70,000 and it is scheduled for completion by 2009. The 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa has offered the city the opportunity to build a multi-purpose international stadium that will be used for a variety of events after the tournament has left Cape Town's shores.

I really liked the feel of this shot. We were on one of the overlooks on the lake taking this shot. I am on the road for the next 2 day so I will be late getting comments till I return. I hope to catch some when I get to the office today, but tomorrow we leave at 4AM so I expect it will be late Friday when I catchup with folks. A vacation trip to Italy was interrupted by the need to be at one of those "very important" business meetings. Thanks for all the comments on my "Post Card" series. I will get caught up on commenting starting Saturday. I am getting some wonderful shots here in Galveston. And now really understand what the great people of Galveston have gone through and endured since Hurricane Ike.
