DailyPhotos > popular today > November 30, 2009 - "A Texas Japanese Garden Autumn"

This was shot yesterday at the Japanese Garden, Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. The sky was a very heavy dark gray overcast. Any sky included in a shot was completely blah. A different shot that I was considering for todays post has Dakota Cowboy fog added for the dreary day. It and another alternate can viewed at

Unfortunately I could not use a tripod as tripods are only allowed in the gardens for a $75 fee (considered commercial photography). However, the Japanese Maples were a beautiful color to enjoy.

(I did use my mono pod)
DailyPhotos > popular today > Emma and I took a walk down to Elder's Pond to watch the sunset. There were so many contrails in the sky. We guessed it was a result of so many people getting back home from the long week end. It made for some very artistic strokes in the clouds.

DailyPhotos > popular today > 11/30/09 - Christmas Trees
I went out to 'chase' the sunset last night hoping for some good color, and it was a dud. BUT, on my way back into the neighborhood, I saw this wonderful sight. Taking a tip from John Bennett, I realized that the fact that it was dusk vs. fully dark might work to my advantage. So, from the stop sign on a dirt road, I took a round of pictures of this Christmas tree stand. The boys are asking hourly now when we get to go get our tree. Probably next weekend, and probably from this stand:-)

I added some shadows and a vignette. I have a B&W version in my November (soon to be December) gallery. I like how the lights overhead make it look like each tree has it's own star:-) A major highway and a deep ditch runs between me and the trees in this one thus the caution tape. A few of my shots even had tail/healights in them.

Thank you for your response on the orchid. All I can say is...WOW and thank you again.

The kids and I will be trying to cope with Monday and getting back into the normal routine. I'm at the stage with this cold where I'm coughing a lot...especially at night. Maybe in a few more days the cold will just be a bad memory. I hope so.

HAGD,
Maryann

Late note: I sent the B&W and color versions to WM and printed them 8X10 to take with me for the owners when we go to buy our tree. Hopefully it will put a smile on their faces and pass on some Christmas spirit.
DailyPhotos > popular today > 2009 11-29 Congrats to my dad for finishing the Seattle 1/2 marathon! And also to my sister in law and brother for doing the full marathon! Hopefully, once things calm down a bit, I'll get back to training.

This is another shot of little Ashley. Doesn't she look cute and serene? This was about 30 seconds before she went balistic. My ears are still ringing.

DailyPhotos > popular today > Magic Mushrooms
I found these critters in my back yard while doing what I hope is my last cleanup of the year...... yea right :) They looked cool so I got down on the ground with my macro and captured a few shot. I got dirty and muddy for my effort so I figured the gritty look would work good on this shot :) Feels like my head right now.. had a migraine since 2AM, pills working but still there. Going to be a long day.

Thanks everyone on the family shot yesterday!!

Have a good day folks! Now off to work.

this is actually another graypoint altered sunset from sis and my trip to the coast in sept. sorry i wasn't around yesterday, obviously i didn't shoot anything eiether. i used all my energy on another project - i published my first book of pics on blurb this morning! i don't know how to make one of those fancy badge links like you smart folks so i'm just including a link on this pic (below). i probably won't get much if any commenting done today either as i simply must do laundry, and at ninty-six stairs roundtrip to the laundry when i go down i stay down til its done you betcha!, and also have a full owrk shift. definitely plan on catching up tomorrow on my day off tho. my own pics are ok but i really miss checking out the fine things happening in the dailies. check the second page text in my book, you'll have to use zoom unless your eyes are MUCH better than mine ;-) , for a 'props' shout out to y'all great daily folks. have a great week and smile a lot for any reason whatsoever. oh, i quite agree with all you who commented on my middle boss pic, she is both photogenic and beautiful
