DailyPhotos > popular today > 12-17-09: Hello? Is anybody there?

Just curious.. how many of you have "land lines" any longer? We just dumped ours, and would have done so a long time ago. But, we were misinformed and thought we had to keep the land line to keep our internet service.

Thanks for coming by and commenting on my photos! I'm sure you'd all rather be out shopping (not). I feel much better after reading the responses from yesterday. I have not purchased one, single present.

I may be making a stop at that fantastic antiques place in the Heights (August Antiques) to pay a visit to that bird.. and the rest of the scale. To see if he can find his way to my home.. wish me luck!

Oh, and Dakota... complete and total unconscious reference on my part..bunny how the frain works.. I mean funny how the brain works! I had to go back and look... good eye! haha on the small slice, as well..

Guys it's Thursday.. of a very loooong week. Go out and make it a great one!

Christmas Tree at the New York Stock Exchange, Broad Street.

I think this is probably the second largest tree in the city after the Rockefeller Center tree, but I could be wrong. It's sort of unknown too. Tourists always go to Wall Street, but I doubt they know there is going to be this huge tree there when they get there and only New Yorkers that work in the area really know about it.

Back in the early 1980's I used to live in the area (way before anyone else) and I used to walk past the stock exchange every day. Before Broad Street was closed to traffic, cars used to drive around the base of the tree and under the branches. Check out the people walking under the branches to get an idea how big it is.

Notice the Menorah and the Kwanzaa kinara (candle holder) on the facade of the exchange, I'm pretty sure they are a recent addition.

Anyway, it was freezing today! Winter is here.

DailyPhotos > popular today > Thank you for the much-too-kind comments on yesterday's photo of Maeve and I with our boas and tiaras. :-)

As many of you know, I'm just a busy grandma who enjoys photography as a hobby. There are plenty of days when I'm tired and not in the mood to pick up the camera, but when I browse through all the interesting and creative photos on the dailies, suddenly that all changes. So thank you for keeping me inspired, and for all of your suggestions and pointers. I started here for the photography, but stay for the wonderful friendships I've made along the way. I've met some of you, talked on the phone with others, kept in touch by e-mail, on facebook, or simply through our comments back and forth each day. So, to each of you, I give a very Big Thank You! This is definitely a special community and I'm so glad to be part of it. (December 16, 2009)

(Dec. 16, 2009) Gracey demonstrates the meaning of putting one's dogs up and giving them a rest. In truth, her paws are probably pretty tired. She had a long day at work being our dog.

We arrived yesterday in New York for my 50th birthday! We'll be here until late Monday and I couldn't be happier.

This is a shot of Macy's 2009 Christmas window display. The theme this year is writing a letter to Santa. It's quite an elaborate process and many elves are needed to help with the volume of mail. :-)
DailyPhotos > popular today > Strange noise - I am sure that I heard it behind this door, a noise making your hair dress up. Cheers - JY
DailyPhotos > popular today > Shot a couple of weeks ago. I haven't had a chance to shoot much this week. I processed this shot a number of different ways and, although this is unusual, I kind of like it.

Thanks for the comments on the shot looking down into the atrium at night. It really isn't that good a shot, but I appreciate your support a lot.

I got caught in the mirror while on trip back in time to a Colorado mining town.
