I kid you not, I could have stayed for hours in some of these places, just taking photos of all the parrots. They were so fun! This particular macaw kept chuckling at me, I swear.

We're starting to get random bits of snow here, and it's frigid. I miss the Caribbean desperately. :-)

My link today has been a long-time favorite, from a long-time favorite artist.

(Dec. 5, 2009) I was out running errands and stopped by Riverside Rancheros, hoping to get a daily shot, and was lucky to see these two having a little tete-a-tete.

DailyPhotos > popular today > 12/6/09 - Steve Gerberich's Holiday Springs and Sprockets at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham.

The boys and I discovered Mr. Gerberich's work at the museum last year and just fell in love with all the gadgets and moving art. A complete blog post entry on our trip is here:

I took my tripod in with me yesterday and was able to take a lot of available light pics. The boys were very entertained by the exhibit. Johnny loved the train, and Joey loved the candy cane factory.

Mr. Gerberich's work travels to other museums and is on permanent display at other locations including this one in Chicago:
Cermak Shopping Center, Berwyn, Illinois

A 4-shot pano including this picture is here:

The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.

It was supposed to snow but it was raining. I took lots of close-ups but I think this best shows the scale. I'll make a "Christmas In New York" gallery when I get a chance.
DailyPhotos > popular today > View of the water vapor from the power plant on a very cold morning - I have to admit that I am rather obsessed with getting shots of this downtown power plant. The best views of it seem to be from a spot on the freeway where there is no possible place to stop and that is not a good view from the windshield of the car. This was shot from the lot of the Chevrolet dealer.

Thanks for the encouragement on my book, as well as the comments on the shot of the bike rider. We get to go to my grandson's piano recital today and Duncan is playing one of his own compositions. I'm excited to hear him play!
DailyPhotos > popular today > ALIEN ?? - Macro of snails that were in the flower beds under the snow dust and leftover leaves. (Of course I gathered them up into a pile to take a closer look.)

Wish I could get rid of them in some natural way there are a boatload in the flower beds. The roadrunners only take a few in the summer.
