The great teacher inspires.” ~ William Ward This week (May 4-8, 2015) is National Teacher Appreciation Week. Those of you who have been a member of the Daily Photos Community for a while know that both of my parents and an aunt are retired educators. Also, my grandmother and an aunt (both deceased) were retired educators. Currently, I have a sister, first cousin, and a few associates who are educators. It's true that teachers make all other professions possible; yet, they are often overlooked, underrated, unappreciated, and underpaid. Perhaps, Valerie Strauss of The Washington Post said it best: "Imagine if we celebrated teachers as much as we celebrate athletes and celebrities." Thank a teacher today! If Wunderground is to be believed, we'll be having overcast and even rainy weather, including unseasonably warm temperatures, for the next six days. The past two days were the same. Sunshine like this is but a distant memory. At least I can have it on my computer monitor . . . DP126-2015 Posted Wednesday, May 6. Taken April 17, 2015 at Hidden Lake Gardens, Michigan Title: Artificial Sunlight for a Gray Day - Nodding Daffodils Note added late: To my disappointment, I won't be able to comment tonight. Glacially slow internet access makes everything take at least 10 times longer than normal. Fingers crossed things are better tomorrow.
One eye open and one ear cocked Jaguar resting on the banks of the Rio Ciuaba, Pantanal, Brazil Jaguars are threatened throughout much of their range, but along the banks of the Rio Cuiaba and its tributaries is it still possible to catch site of these magnificent creatures as they come to the river to hunt for caiman and capybara, some of their favorite food. Several photos of this big male jaguar in different poses can be seen here: http://goo.gl/hSdqWh 06/05/15 www.allenfotowild.com

Iris Impressions May 6 A purple iris from a friend's flower garden.
May 6, 2015 This is a rather random shot from one of our driving vacations. It was taken somewhere along the west coast between Seattle and Eureka, California. A used Topaz Glow, and added the vignette. I liked the end result. "If you look closely at a tree you'll notice it's knots and dead branches, just like our bodies. What we learn is that beauty and imperfection go together wonderfully." ~ Matthew Fox Thank you for your comments and critiques! Stand tall today, like this lone tree over the ocean that endures many strong winds and weather events. Linda http://www.lgood.smugmug.com

And the clean up continues..... one more shot from our first weekend at the new lake lot. It was a lot of work, but not nearly as much as the weekend we just had! Got lots more pictures to share as the complete makeover of our summer spot unfolds. I'll need a day or two to organize them all.... 05.06.15
