9/1/15 - This gentleman is having a little nap on a downtown Boston lawn.  His suitcase is nearby, so, I assume he is a tourist in need of rest.  Thanks for your comments on my shot of the rays through the clouds.
This beauty seemed to pose for me. He opened and closed his wings as he drank in the nectar from this zinnia.  It is very hot today and will be all week! Yay! Still Summer! post for Sept. first , 2015

Waning Summer  Sept 1 Nothing says "waning summer" like a field of zinnias, illuminated by the warm evening sun.
Optical illusion  The driftwood log is pointing at the couple, who look unusually small relative to the foreground due to lack of features in the background that allow one to judge the scale. This is an example of the technique called forced perspective.  I liked the long shadows of the couple, but no shadows from the rocks or the log. This was shot from high up with a large DOF.

31.08.15 - That's My Boy  My son Jack yesterday at a vintage vehicle rally. It was August Bank Holiday Monday in the UK, the end of the last big holiday weekend of the summer. Traditionally it rains, and it did with a vengeance yesterday! The vehicle in the background is a 1929 Chevrolet, we'd just been for a drive in it and were waiting for an old Jaguar to return and take us out on another short ride.

Day 244: Tear Drop Memorial. - Sept 1. This memorial sculpture created by Russian artist ZurabTsereteli was presented to the United States by the Russian government in recognition of the lives lost in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center towers in NYC.  Commonly known as the Tear Drop Memorial, the formal name by the artist is “To the Struggle Against World Terrorism.”  The names of those lost in the attacks and the World Trade Center bombing in 1993 are etched in the black granite base.  The memorial is located in Bayonne New Jersey.
