This entire image, apart from the frame was composited from a single frame (link below) in four different orientations. I knew when I started this series of abstracts that I wanted to do at least one rust abstract. I got lucky on my recent visit to Spicer Orchards, finding a piece of old farm equipment that had rusted in a colorful way and that had a portion which lent itself to a diagonal format. DP256-2014 Posted September 13; created September 12 from an image taken September 11 Here's the link to the single frame, in its original orientation out of the camera ( http://smu.gs/1qQf2Hp ) . I cropped the original shot to a 2:1 aspect ratio that created two dark triangles of approximately equal size at opposite ends of one diagonal. As I say, I got lucky. When I took the shot I had no idea I'd be creating such a pattern, so I did no planning on how to orient or otherwise compose the original. Silver Slipper outside the Neon Museum, Las Vegas. One of the early, "restored" neons from the Silver Slipper Casino (Rumor has it Howard Hughes thought it contained government surveillance equipment and was pointed at his Desert Inn penthouse) Fantastic Place!
9/13/14 - Pike's Peak, Colorado, worth viewing in the largest size. I stepped outside our motorhome and grabbed this shot after we'd had some thunderstorms. I appreciate the comments you all made on my shot of the old Colorado Springs house. Do you think the problem with the dailies "most popular" was related to whether or not you had migrated to the new smugmug? I have not yet moved and my shot showed up there. I hope smugmug will get it figured out.
Sept.13. From yesterday 's shot, where the osprey was taking off, this is just after. Difficult to keep this BIF in the frame but I do like how you can see how sharp the talons and bill are.
09.13.14 Pacific Grove, Lover's Point. Didn't comment much yesterday because Smug was not cooperative. Tomorrow is Sunday. What color will you post?

September 9. 2014 Here's another older neon sign for the town of Helper, Utah. I liked the sign, but I really loved the contrasting colors of brick on the old downtown building. Critiques and comments welcome. Have an "over the top" great day! Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com
