Tuesday, July 17, 2012 "AFFECTION" "Horse sense is the thing a horse has which keeps it from betting on people." ~ W.C. Fields Update: After reading Wilma's comment, I changed the caption from "Bonding" to "Affection." Thanks for the inspiration, Wilma! I am told that horses are extrememly affectionate and that when a horse gently brings its head even slightly in your direction, it is a sign of affection and acknowledgement.........such was the case here. You all know that I rarerly post "people shots," but I was walking by and spotted this scene and thought, "photo opp and future daily post." I was hoping she wouldn't leave before I was able to get my camera out of its bag and capture the moment. Thanks for your comments and have a terrific Tuesday. Sunday, July 21, 2013 "B" is for BATHTUBS "Every tub has to sit on its own bottom." ~ Title of a book written by Zora Neal Hurston Photo submission for Donna McCommon's "Alphabet Challenge" For some reason, when I saw this scene, I was reminded of the scene in "The Help" movie where the commodes (toilets), as opposed to bathtubs, were in the front yard of Hilly Hollbrook's house:). Have a wonderfully blessed day, my friends! Wednesday, October 2, 2013 "FOUNTAINS OF BELLAGIO" "The knowledge of man is as the waters, some descending from above, and some springing from beneath; the one informed by the light of nature, the other inspired by divine revelation." ~ Francis Bacon SOOC, uncropped, 35mm lens There's always one......Dycasstudios apparently doesn't believe this is a SOOC image, so she's requested to see the camera settings. You can view them here under "Comments (see Godschild): http://dycasstudios.smugmug.com/DailyGallery-1/2013-Daily/27377083_2KC9tv#!i=2805356469&k=7S5q8Rs In July, we spent a week in Arizona at "my happy place." While there, we decided to digress and drive to Las Vegas. Although I was first and last in Las Vegas in June (2006) with my best friend, it was my hubby's first trip to Vegas. Upon our arrival, we parked in the Bellagio's parking garage and headed straight for the water show that was just about to start. This is one of the first photos that I took. A refreshing addition to entertainment options, the Fountains of Bellagio were destined to romance the senses during the day and night. We viewed this thoughtfully interwoven complimentary Las Vegas show of water, music, and light. Each dynamic performance is unique in its expression and interpretation. It is truly the most amusing, amazing, ambitious, choreographically complex water feature ever conceived against the beautiful backdrop of Las Vegas's sky. I fell in love all over again with the stunning nature of this aquatic accomplishment while listening to a clever concert of opera, classical, and Broadway tunes. 2-12: Back after being very sick for almost a week. Wednesday morning I finally felt good enough to get up and take some pictures. This was taken a few minutes before sunrise on the Collindale golf course.
1-16: Thursday morning we woke up to thick fog again. It lasted till about noon. I was able to go out on my lunch break and take some shots along the river right after the fog lifted. The fog had frozen to the tree branches and bushes. I was able to get some shots before it all melted.

Sunday, December 30, 2012 "LIGHTS AND REFLECTIONS" "How much you climb up the mountain is just as important as how you get down the mountain. And so it is with life, which, for many of us becomes one big gigantic test followed by one big gigantic lesson. In the end, it all comes down to one word.....grace. It's how you accept winning and losing, good luck and bad luck, the darkness and the light." ~ Philosophy SOOC, other than the frames, which were created with Picnik.......unfortunately, the picnik is over. As announced earlier, Picnik closed on April 19, 2012. August 30, 2009 - "1941 Ford Super Deluxe" This was shot at the Palm Springs Air Museum. The SOOC had so many distracting reflections that I could not work around. So, I thought I would push this beautiful stock '41 Ford to this extreme. I do not see to many candy apple red cars around anymore :) I just competed a gallery with the SOOC and several other cars from the museum. http://dakotacowboy.smugmug.com/Cars/Palm-Springs-Air-Museum-Cars/9405377_H6KiD/1/630121733_CxF5M Airplanes from the museum are at another gallery http://dakotacowboy.smugmug.com/Military/Palm-Springs-Air-Museum-2009/8329002_YUVa2/1/578640610_Q5Nsr
June 30, 2011 Here's another one of the 'reflection' photos that I enjoy seeing and snapping shots of. The red 1950 Ford pickup is reflected in the hub cap of a 1940 Chevrolet. I thought it was pretty cool because the red accents in the wheel really set the red of the reflected pickup off nicely. And don't you love those big white wall tires? If you check this out in X2 or X3, you'll be able to see lots of neat details and reflections. Both vehicles are owned by our friend Gary, and were at the recent car show. To see a larger photo of the Chevrolet car, click here: http://lgood.smugmug.com/Cars/Classic-Cars/12442807_L6QVo/#1355627499_DRdWCbv We are enjoying our vacation. Sorry for the very little commenting I've been able to do, but I'll catch up as soon as I can. You guys are posting some awesome shots this week!! Best regards, Linda
Day 132 - The morning sun strikes rock formations in the Grand Canyon, as seen from the North Rim in Arizona; detail in this image is best viewed in a larger size. This shot of the Grand Canyon is one I recently rediscovered in my archives from the early fall and reprocessed. I used a number of different effects, including Topaz Adjust, Color EFEX Pro, and some regular Photoshop filter and blending effects. If you view the large size, you will really see some detail! I'm going to post this and go to bed. I hope you all have a really nice day! It is supposed to be quite warm here today. It got up to 65 degrees in Colorado Springs today, not a good day to sleep away. Oh. well. Oh, if some of you should like to look at the other North Rim Grand Canyon shots, they are here: http://fotoeffects.smugmug.com/gallery/6698528_KNq6d#476011624_efKkk.
1-11: Saturday morning we drove up Highways 7 and did some hiking in Wild Basin. This is "Chapel on the Rock" built in 1935, part of Saint Malo Catholic Retreat off of Highway 7. I think it's a neat looking old chapel and it resides in a very beautiful setting. Behind is Mt. Meeker. As you can see, it was another very windy morning up in the mountains. A lot of snow was blowing off the mountain peaks.
Cabin-0461 This is what home looked like early Monday morning. The trees, especially the two corkscrew-willows, were simply amazing with all the wet snow clinging to them. Since I don't see it very often, one thing I had forgotten about snow is it's tough to shoot! The light was only favorable for a short time and the wind was enough to ruin a lot of the more graceful scenes early on, but it certainly was a pleasant change from all the dead winter vegetation. But all that's over now - Bring on Spring!
11-08: Friday afternoon I took a walk along the river near a place called Legacy Park in Fort Collins.
