House Finch... The House Finch is a recent introduction from western into eastern North America (and Hawaii), but it has received a warmer reception than other arrivals like the European Starling and House Sparrow. That’s partly due to the cheerful red head and breast of males, and to the bird’s long, twittering song, which can now be heard in most of the neighborhoods of the continent. If you haven’t seen one recently, chances are you can find one at the next bird feeder you come across. http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/House_Finch/id Thanks for your views and comments! Critiques always welcome... April 27, 2015

26.04.15 - Saturday Afternoon This was going to be my Daily yesterday but I put it on hold for my tribute to thosel ost in the Nepal earthquake. These shots were taken on a guided photo walk I did on Saturday afternoon, some popular places and some less well known ones around old Lincoln. The weather started off bright and sunny, but there were storms approaching and we got rained on just before the end
This shot preceded yesterday's (DP116-2015) by a couple of minutes. It shows one crane approaching the nest (wing spread out), while the other stands, ready to relinquish its incubation duties. DP117-2015 Posted Monday, April 27. Several more pictures of this pair can be seen here: http://arctangent.smugmug.com/Birds/Herons-Cranes-Egrets-etc/40843261_vMc7rb Taken April 24, 2015. Sunset Fantasy: I'm back from vacation! We had a great time on the cruise - It started off pretty rough however. My camera was knocked out of my hand as i was taking it out of the bag..it landed straight down on the lens. The filter cracked and the barrel of the lens no longer telescopes. I was heart broken. The lens does work but not properly. Time for a new lens. Anyway - I have a whole bunch of shots for you to see and a lot of catching up to do!! Happy Monday! 04/27/2015
White-throated Sparrow - taken near Olympia, Wa. I really appreciate the comments!
Have you ever seen anyone get so crazy over a backyard tree? The arbourist who worked on it last year told Rob what kind it was and he's forgotten, but after the long winter we've had I'm just thrilled to see leaves! I wish the cardinal would spend more time in it! Happy Sunday everyone . It was sort of sunny today but warm and no snow! post for 27/04/15
