Monday, April 20, 2015 "WHITERRIFIC" "Let us permit nature to have her way. She understands her business better than we do." ~ Michel de Montaigne Dancing in the wind were these ornamental, spectacular, and spring flowers known as "Magnolia Stellatas" (aka "Star Magnolias"). According to Wikipedia, they are "slow-growing shrubs or small trees native to Japan that bear large, showy white or pink flowers in early spring, before their leaves open." I appreciate your comments on my "Nana Necklace" yesterday. I noticed that a few of you got a kick out of me being known as "Glam-Ma" (aka "Glamorous Grandma").....and yes, I am....... and love it! Have a marvelous Monday! NIBBS (Hair Salon) ***#10 photo of the day*** (photo taken 3/24/2015) My Homepage: www.Godschild.SmugMug.com

Thursday, March 1, 2012 "B-17G SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY" (Flying Fortress) Marianne Williamson said, "The spiritual path is simply the journey of living our lives. Everyone is on a spiritual path; most people just don’t know it." OK, this is the final aircraft post in the series. This museum was of particular interest to me because as I have stated many times before, I have a first cousin in the Air Force, a nephew in the Marines, and my father is retired from the Army. "The Commemorative Air Force Arizona Wing Aviation Museum" complete gallery of photos is here: http://godschild.smugmug.com/Military/The-Commemorative-Air-Force/ SOOC comes this 68 year old aircraft built in 1944 and considered to be the most authentically restored flying World War II B-17 bomber in the world today. Sentimental Journey now visits an average of 60 cities and towns across the United States and Canada each year as a patriotic and educational exhibit. It is based at Falcon Field and owned by The Commemorative Air Force. Although there were 12,731 B-17's built, approximately 50 are still in existence. It operates at a cost of $2000 per hour. It has been featured in movies/television shows such as "All The Fine Young Me," "1941," and "Wings." Its nose art features a photo of Betty Gable. On the day of our visit, Sentimental Journey was one of three airplanes that tourists could take 40-45 minute flights for a fee..........$850 (for the nose) and $425 (for mid and aft fuselage). I really appreciate that you enjoyed my presentations of the various aircraft over the last few days. If you are ever in Arizona, a visit to this museum is a "no brainer." Hang in there; tomorrow is Friday! The Commemorative Air Force Wing Aviation Museum Falcon Field - 2017 N.
