10-30-08 Natural lenses A tiny spider web and a misty morning give so many lenses ! Hard to keep every drop sharp and to focus on the picture given through the drops ! This one came out good enough among many other shots. Can you see what was behind ? ^^
11/05/09 - Historic Yates Mill Pond at Sunset I posted a picture of the actual water wheel in my gallery earlier this year. In this picture, you can't see the wheel, but you get this lovely reflection instead. After Joey's flu shot, I decided to make the best of a wonderful afternoon and go for a quick hike around the mill pond. Unfortunately, we were really there a good 30-60 minutes too late to be taking good pictures. I had to bump up the saturation on this one to improve the color. This is the same shot taken on 10/26 last year when the sun was better and the tree closest to the mill still had yellow leaves on it. http://fotomom.smugmug.com/Yates-Mill-Pond/Yates-Mill-Photo-Contest-2009/7088136_34LZC#454338880_TdGL2 In both cases, the sky looks better in the reflection than in the final shot. I'm not sure how to get around that...especially in last night's picture when the sky really didn't have much blue in it. We still have not had a frost or freeze at my house, but it look like it's coming Friday night into Saturday. I am storing ceramic bird baths and pots and taking in fragile plants that I can save. I sure wish today was Friday... HAGD, Maryann

Rocks on the side Found this on the road to Waco. Focus point was the barn.
12-26: Another from the golf course on Wednesday morning. There was a heavy frost on the trees which, in this shot, was helping to pick up a glow from the sun.

The 23rd Annual Heard Museum World Championship was just held. Series #1 Previous World Championship Hoop Dance Videos of Category Winners explains more than I can in words. Gallery for those that can’t wait for the Best Images on the Dailies for the Annual World Championship Hoop Dance Contest The Equipment is Simple. HOOPS Keep in rhythm with the beat of the drums while manipulating more and more hoops creating designs to form horses, flowers, birds and others that I did not recognize. The Native Americans also showcase elaborate ceremonial costumes which is also part of the crowd appeal. I shot nearly 800 images and have reserved the very best for the Dailies. They will be spread out with final processing occurring on the day prior to release. Hope you enjoy this series... Link to Photo Without Frame
April 22, 2013 Here's another from the Lgood archives. It's a gorgeous 2012 Boss 302 Mustang! Black with red racing stripes. I loved the funky reflections of the two men standing nearby and enjoying this speedy beauty. "Auto racing is boring except when a car is going at least 172 miles per hour upside down." ~ Dave Barry Thank you all for your comments and thoughts about the "Guest's" remarks concerning reflections. It was interesting to hear your insights, and I truly appreciated them. I found it funny that the Guest scolded that it was not a commercially acceptable photo - well, gosh we all know that. I didn't intend it to be. So.....here's another one with more distracting (I admit that these could be considered distracting) reflections on this car. You guys ROCK!!!!!! As always, critiques are welcomed here. Have a "racing-stripe" sort of exciting day today my friends. Linda
I started with a detail of a crack in a large agave leaf. As a natural object it was sufficiently interesting to make me pause to photograph it (here: http://smu.gs/1BKJ7bE ). Anything with interesting shapes or forms can also be a candidate for various transformations. Today's post is an example of playing with one particular filter (see below) and then seeing whether I could combine the variations in a pleasing way. DP083-2015 Posted Tuesday, March 24; created ditto from a photo taken Mar. 16 The filter I used was Filter Forge's 'Comics and Toons'. I simply kept cycling through the variations of the presets, tweaking the sliders at times, until I arrived at another version I wanted to keep. Title: Born of Boredom - Planned Chaos Apologies for not commenting yesterday. I'll try to catch up later today. Thanks for all your continued interest in my own shots. It is always appreciated.
The Baldwin Coach Barn - stunning! (View larger) In 1875, E.J. "Lucky" Baldwin purchased Rancho Santa Anita, now the Los Angeles County Arboretum. The Baldwin Coach Barn, designed in the same ornate style as the Victorian cottage, displays beautiful alternating cedar and redwood panels and original iron grillwork contributing to a feeling of opulence. After Lucky Baldwin's death, the County of Los Angeles purchased 111 acres of the Rancho Santa Anita to create an arboretum around the Baldwin home-site. The Coach Barn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
September 23, 2007 Fog in the forest.
February 21, 2011 - "Restoration Questionable" This vehicle is on display in front of some Key West stores. I did some research and believe that nameplate on the hood is part of the original vehicle. Your response to my Key West sunset image was greatly appreciated.
2-12: Back after being very sick for almost a week. Wednesday morning I finally felt good enough to get up and take some pictures. This was taken a few minutes before sunrise on the Collindale golf course.
The Silk-street in Beijing, where copies of CD's, computer programs, clothe, you name it, is up for sales. Lot of police are there, but they only guard the nearby embassies
Single color . If you look at the horizon line you will see a number of windmills. We have a lot of offshore windmill parks around our country and they produce 30 % of our total power consumption and this percentage is increasing from year to year
