Reflections on Second Avenue - I used to work in the building on the left. I shot pointing upward and was able to capture multiple reflections n each.
A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall, Nacogoches TX Well this is pretty much the oppesite of a glamour shoot! We had a very strong storm pass through Texas yesterday and as far as I know we were lucky that there weren’t any major incidents. We were planning for the storm all day and it ended up not hitting us too hard. I was standing in the carport, watching a wave of rain come through and it hit me that I needed to practice my rain shots in case it’s ever raining on a wedding day. So I set up a couple of speedlites on stands, just as I would at a wedding, and begged Nini to go out and pose in the rain. The only catch was that we could only find one umbrella! And I needed it to prevent my lens from getting drops all over it! So Nini had to actually pose in the rain. She was not happy about it, but her attitude fit perfectly with the lighting I created. I processed this photo in Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS6. In CS6 I used a batch of actions that I recently purchased from www.florabellacollection.com I was really impressed by the actions and have learned a lot about photoshop by going through and dissecting their actions and seeing all kinds of new tricks I never knew how to do before. 5/22/13 - Rapeseed fields in the Palouse, Washington. We've spent two days driving around the back roads of the Palouse in Washington. We only saw the rapeseed in this one spot. I was so excited to see it! Our most exciting moments came today when we drove up to Steptoe Butte. I had no idea it was going to be one of those drives with steep drop offs all the way up...for about ten miles. The views were spectacular, but I was freaked out, since I'm terrified of heights. The Palouse is a beautiful farming region in eastern Washington. Again, I'd never heard of it until I saw some gorgeous shots of the area on smugmug and added it to my bucket list. It is an area of rolling hills. Farmers plow and plant following the curves of the hills and it is very striking. The curves capture the light in unique ways. Unfortunately, the light during our two days here wasn't particularly great, but it was lovely, nonetheless. Hopefully, I've gotten some decent shots. Many of the Palouse towns are extremely small and a number of them seem to be dying with almost no businesses still operating. Pullman, Colfax and Palouse are the towns big enough to have at least one place to eat. Pullman is quite large and is the home of Washington State University. If you have a chance to explore this beautiful region, I highly recommend it. Thanks so much for your warm response to my shot of Palouse Falls. Your thoughts really gave me a boost today!

May 22, 2013 This is Lynda, she is a 17-year-old senior that attends NC High School and will be attending Alvernia University upon graduation. Lynda is one of the most fun and vivacious young people I have ever met. She was so relaxed during the entire shoot, anything you asked her to do she did without question. We had a great time with Lynda, I hope she had fun as well. This is one of my favorite photos from the day.
