Thank you Lady Kate and Kamryn! Maeve and I were having a ball! (December 15, 2009)

DailyPhotos > popular today > I was in the neighbors yard the other day and I looked over into our yard and I could see Jezzy through the fence and bushes. She was running around everywhere with her nose up in the air,she could smell me but she just couldn't figure out where I was!

I missed posting and commenting yesterday due to Christmas shopping!! Hopefully I will get caught up soon!
DailyPhotos > popular today > 12/16/09 - The Old Red Barn
The last two mornings have been foggy on the way to work, and I've been looking for a way to make use of the fog in a POTD. I found a great tree along a fence line to shoot yesterday but no safe way to go take the picture. However, I was able to pull off safely to take a picture of this barn. Not showing the fog as thick as I was after, but still kindof neat I think. I've been watching this barn for a while, and yesterday was the day to finally take the 5 minutes to stop! I got barked at pretty good by a dog in a yard closeby, but he was secured and I'd have just made friends anyway.

I applied an Orton action from:
http://coffeeteaphotography.blogspot.com/

There are about 10 other versions of the barn including a B&W here:

As I was leaving work yesterday, I saw this:

The bluebirds and other small birds were just having a field day with the wax myrtle berries. I snapped as many as I could on my way to an appt. I wish I could have stayed longer and maybe gotten THE shot.

The boys posed with the Chick-fil-A cow last night for me:

I am very excited to go into Joey's class room today for his holidays around the world celebration. Starting Friday I am off for 2 weeks. Can you just feel my excitement!?! The kids and I will be doing lots of day trips during that time weather permitting. Lots of photo ops. Yep, I'm bursting with excitement.

I showed Johnny your comments on his reindeer picture. He was excited about having his picture as the POTD. I think it motivates him to give me that super cute smile again next time. Thanks...

Maryann

DailyPhotos > popular today > "Spatterdock"
Day 288, Wednesday, December 16

This week we've had spiders, Iguanas, alligators and birds.... so let's add a plant.
Spatter Dock is different than the common White Water Lily.

When mature, the 2 inch flower is always and only "half open"... and both the flower and the heart shaped leaf can exist submerged, at water level or rise above the water. The leaf can grow to 8-16 inches long and 10 inched wide.

Spatterdock can be grazed by deer, consumed by beavers and muskrat and the seeds by ducks and other waterfowl.

From Wiki....Spatterdock was long used in traditional medicine, with the root applied to the skin and/or both the root and seeds eaten for a variety of conditions. The seeds are edible, and can be ground into flour. The root is edible too, but can prove to be incredibly bitter in some plants.

DailyPhotos > popular today > 12-16-09: Weighing our options..

This birdie does not belong to us.. yet. Although, the more we look at the photos I took of him/her, the more we think about adding to our wish list.

I don't know what these types of scales are called.. something that will take a little more investigation than I have time for this morning. If any of you know... (the bird acts as the weight.. there's a rod that he sits on and a receptacle of some sorts to hold the objects being measured)... of course I'm not posting the pic that shows the entire item... that would be so out of character for me. (ha)

We are inching closer to the holidays... how's your shopping coming along???

Have a wondrous day!!!
