Golden hour at Fisherman's Terminal
Excerpted from the description of this work in the gallery. Alyson Shotz (American, b. 1964) Spiral Helix, 2009 (Dichroic acrylic, Sintra, steel) (On loan; not part of the permanent collection.) An exploration of both shape and light, Spiral Helix is comprised of square-shaped bars that rotate around a central axis in increasing increments. Such rotation gives visual momentum to the work successfully creating the illusion of a form moving through space. Such illusion also softens the geometric and linear qualities of both the individual bars and overall form, granting the sculpture a more organic quality. ...the dichroic material [used] reflects different wavelengths of light in the environment depending on time of day, ambient light, and the angle from which the sculpture is viewed. DP351-2014 Posted Wednesday, December 17; processed December 16 I've given you a full view and a close-up view, the latter chosen to illustrate some of the color change one observes as one walks around the sculpture and views it from different angles. Sculpture gallery, special exhibit of emerging sculptors. Marsh Wren - taken near Olympia, Wa. I appreciate the comments!
12/17/14 - Waitin' for the womenfolk --- my hubby and my grandson at the mall Thanks for your comments on my shot of the unusually shaped live oak!

Father and Son - I caught this as dad was just getting his little one to quiet down. I would rather not have had the line behind the baby's head but had to try and grab the moment.
Wednesday, December 17, 2014 "O, BEAUTIFUL FOR SPACIOUS SKIES" "The American flag, Old Glory, standing tall and flying free over American soil for 228 years is the symbol of our beloved country. It is recognized from near and afar, and many lives have been lost defending it." ~ Jeff Miller Christmas countdown........8 days away! There was a lot of construction in progress at the Riverfront. My hubby (photo assistant) pointed the bird out to me and suggested that I take a photo of it. Since I didn't have my 70-300mm zoom lens, I couldn't get as close as I wanted. Afterwards, "my eye" saw this scene, which encompasses the bird and surrounding subjects. My hubby said he liked this photo better. Have a wonderful Wednesday! Pre-Ceremony jitters.... I caught this expression just before Mackenzie's Tae Kwan Do Black Belt Ceremony began. She was SO nervous, but of course, she did a wonderful job of standing (mostly without moving) for over 5 hours and of receiving her Black Belt and making an excellent speech. Whatever Mackenzie does, she does well, with committment and enthusiasm, and we simply could not be more proud of her! 12.17.14 (this one is for you God's Child, I know you are wondering how Mackenzie is doing... :) thanks for being so sweet.)
December 17, 2014 This is our 6-year old Grandson Hunter. He is intently doing something at the kitchen table with his yellow mustang. I think this is a "Hot Wheels" car, but I couldn't swear to it. Hunter loves all things transportation: cars, trucks, bicycles, skooters, airplanes, trains and he particularly favors Monster Trucks. :-) "The simplest toy, one which even the youngest child can operate, is called a grandparent." ~ Sam Levenson Thank you for your comments and critiques. Have a Wonderful Wednesday my friends! Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com
12.17.14 At the entrance to the park by where we parked. I insisted we get a picture. It is a little dark, but I didn't like how it looked when I lightened it. I could have worked harder to get a better balance, but.... I'm lazy.
17/12/14 Raining all day and I wanted some new shots to present ;so went one street over to see the decorations. I felt like inspector Clouseau as I skulked down the sidewalk. Homeowners peeking out of their windows made me a little nervous in the dark. I like this one but took it in a hurry. Not too sharp but the holiday feel comes through.
