Tuesday, May 26, 2015 "JUST THE TWO OF US" "The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right place but to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment." ~ Dorothy Nevill This is one that I had "in the can" for Judy Horton's (aka fotoeffects) proposed challenge (that never unfolded) of submitting photos that depict song titles. The title is based on the song "Just the Two of Us," a 1981 R&B single written by Bill Withers, William Salter and Ralph MacDonald, which was recorded by Grover Washington, Jr. and Bill Withers. The song appeared on Washington's album, " Winelight." Leland, Mississippi is most noted for being the boyhood home of Jim Henson, creator of the Muppets. Along Highway 82 as you enter Leland you will find the Jim Henson Delta Boyhood Exhibit, made possible through a gift from the Henson Family. The Museum houses many artifacts and memorabilia from Henson's early creative years, and is a must-see for any Kermit, Muppets, and Sesame Street enthusiast. Thanks so much for your kind comments on my "Memorial Day" 2015 collage yesterday. There were truly many wonderful tributes to our fallen "heroes and sheroes." Have a terrific Tuesday and enjoy being in good company! Monday, May 25, 2015 "MEMORIAL DAY" 2015 "Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices." ~ President Harry S. Truman Here's another one of my "artistic creations" and I had so much fun designing and creating it. Elmer Davis declared, "This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave." This is a memoriam to all of the military "heroes and sheroes" who made the ultimate sacrifice for America. Remember, we promised them that we wouldn't forget, ever. Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed each year on the last Monday of May. Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. soldiers who died while in the military service. It was first enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War, and was extended after World War I to honor Americans who have died in all wars. God, bless America. America, bless God! ***#10 photo of the day*** (created on 5/22/2015 from various photos) My Homepage: www.GodsChild.SmugMug.com
May 26, 2015 This shot of Mt. Rainier was taken quite a few years ago, but it's still one of my favorites. It was taken in July and you can see there was still a good bit of snow on the mountain. It is a beautiful sight. I ran across this old photo again recently and added an HDR filter in Topaz. "That's been one of my mantras - focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it's worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains." ~ Steve Jobs Thank you for your comments and critiques. For everyone that has to go back to work today - hang in there, it's a short week. Cheers! Linda http://www.lgood.smugmug.com
